Realtors are all about trust. You don't spend 300k with your mechanic. They use their picture because a face seems more trustworthy than a logo.

Oh I forgot to mention I hate it too. Nothing is worse than having an awesome design ready to go to print and some Ham Hock says can you squeeze my picture on there? ugh

I dont want to trust someone whos taking out ads on a park bench, and the spammed holiday cards are killing me. Ive seen some great pictures though.

i agree, but for some strange reason the realtor who sold our old house sends us holiday cards with her ugly cat on it. so its like "happy holidays from barbara" and there's this grossly overweight cat with a santa hat.

By design, realtors have shitty artistic talent (that is why they are stuck selling houses while real people are out making flash movies about their highschool classmates), so, since most realtors work outside of a company, they require some form of visual representation so that people can know what's up. Since they don't know how to use gradients in photshop, they are pretty much left with useless logos that lower the property value of the house where their little realtor flag is placed. The solution? Mugshot icons.
