Heya all! I know I owe everybody a trip report from Scotland...but I've been running around all over the place in the meanwhile. I just wanted to let everybody know that I, Matt Keefe, will be on the radio tonight!
I got quite the interesting e-mail a few days back from my forecast manager. It seems there's quite the shortage of folk for the 4th of July weekend...and due to the shortage, for the first time ever, I'm actually getting thrown onto a radio to do not only recordings, but LIVE hits, which is a pretty big deal. The kicker is who I'm doing it for...WCBS Newsradio 880 in New York City!
So my very first radio EVER...the first time my voice will be heard publicly over the airwaves reading a weather forecast...will be for New York fucking City!! To say that I'm excited is quite the understatement...and to say I'm nervous is also an understatement. I mean...they put me, a newbie who's never done something to be put on air, onto a radio station in the largest media market in the country! Also, this is my home...I remember listening to 880 news back at home in NJ...so it seems appropriate that the first radio weathercasting I do will be for, well, my home!
I will be on air from midnight to 2 am EDT tonight...they do traffic and weather every 10 minutes on the 8's (:08, :18, :28, etc). If you happen to catch the 12:08 and 1:08 am reports, that will not be a recording of me, but that will be me LIVE and in person (and more than likely the most nervous since, well, it's LIVE!).
If anybody wants to listen, go to www.wcbs880.com and click on the "listen live" button on the right of the screen as they do stream live over the internet around the world. So just 'cause you don't live in the NYC area doesn't mean you can't listen to yours truly ;) Now, if you DO live in the NYC area, just tune the AM radio to 880 AM...or just sign online if you don't wanna listen on the radio. Either way, if you guys wanna listen to me doing what I do, you're more than welcome to!
Anyway, I'm off to work...here's hoping I don't suck! Scotland trip log will be forthcoming :)
