LARP Rant!

Apr 10, 2007 11:19

Alright...I've had a little over a week to digest this, and I'm still angry.  Very angry in fact.

I love MJ.  It's the LARP I started with, and the one that I drop everything for.  This is not a knock on MJ the game, the owners, or managers.  I think that for the most part, everyone does what they do awesomely.

However, when I have to get a 30 plus ( Read more... )

No sweat. I'm not going anywhere. I said that I considered leaving. I didn't say how long I considered it, or how close I came to leaving...

I've invested too much time and effort into the development of both Jonas and the Defenders. I'm not going anywhere. I do hope that Paul was serious, and that some of the multiple offenders are shown the door. I'd still rather it happen my way, where people are adult enough to just pull someone off to the side and say something to them...but something needs to happen.

He was definitely serious. Please submit personal Feedback so we can weed these people out. I was surprised... after all the people talking about that One Incident, You Know Which I Mean, as of last Thursday (?) there was not one Feedback about it.

Sigh...

Which incident? The invincible orcs, or the really bad choice of language? Another incident? I really don't know...could be the concussions.

My first choice isn't to weed anyone out. I'm sure a friend or two of mine are on that list of people that did something incredibly stupid. However, if they can't change, then they need to go.

And if I submit Feedback, I would definitely be a hypocrite. I just got done saying in my post that someone needs to pull these people aside...I'd be doing what I hate. I would probably be the last person to submit that kind of feedback. Maybe dangerous play or someone being especially abusive would do it.

I have, however, reported myself. That's fair.

I don't see it like that.

Is it any different from you saying to me, "Geez, I can't believe that ____ was fighting like that, it was really inexcusable." And then I say, "Ah, I had heard there were problems, now I know who."

Helping fix the problem one way doesn't limit you from pulling people aside and doing the one-on-one. Yeah. I dunno. Frustration on both sides.

To me it is different...telling you is like telling a friend. You may hold an official capacity at MJ, but last event was the first I'd heard of it. So when I tell you it's like two people on similar ground talking about something.

When someone tells Paul or one of the managers, it's like someone running to the mom or dad.

I dunno.

Two feedbacks submitted, one negative, one positive.
