When Old Crow Medicine Show takes the stage at Jupiter Bar & Grill tonight at 9, it will be a homecoming of sorts. The band has sung about Eutaw in their music, and went as far as to name their 2001 album "Eutaw."

The truth is that the Nashville-based alt-country/bluegrass act formed in Ithaca, N.Y., in the late '90s. Despite Old Crow's Yankee roots, they've managed to become a critically acclaimed alt-country act. OCMS's self-titled album was selected by Country Music Television as one of the top-10 bluegrass albums of 2004.

OCMS's traditional style is complemented with a rock 'n' roll attitude that has lead to popularity among bluegrass and folk music circles, as well as indie and modern-alternative music fans.

The far-reaching popularity of OCMS can be attributed to a strict adherence to an old-time sound mixed with edgy lyrics. The jug band has a repertoire of songs with titles like "Boll Weevil," "Wagon Wheel" and "Cocaine Habit."

OCMS has opened for Dolly Parton at the Grand Ole Opry, toured with Merle Haggard and appeared on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien."

OCMS's stop in Tuscaloosa comes in the midst of relentless touring in support of their 2006 album, "Big Iron World." The tour has taken OCMS across the country, and has featured stops at festivals including Bonnaroo, the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and the New Orleans Jazz Festival.

Tickets are $20 and are available at the Jupiter or online at www.jupiteronthestrip.com.
