'The Good Wife's' Matt Czuchry ready to go bad

Matt Czuchry reveals "The Good Wife" is making him a badder guy ... on television, anyway.

Formerly Rory's beau Logan on "Gilmore Girls," the actor now plays Cary Agos, Alicia Florrick's (Julianna Margulies) ambitious rival for a permanent job at a Chicago law firm on the Tuesday CBS drama series. Cary turns more scheming, Czuchry tells Zap2it, as the show's first season nears its end.

"In this last chunk, one of the big story lines is going to be that contest," Czuchry confirms. "A piece of that is how Cary tries to make sure he gets that spot, and he does it through some manipulation. The audience is going to be seeing another side of Cary, and that's a crucial part of the end of the season."

Czuchry doesn't deem his forthcoming variation on Cary a villain: "I think he loves being a lawyer, and he's passionate about cases and doing right by people. We've found out he was in the Peace Corps, so that element of why he does what he does is genuine. Working with cases on Alicia, he has to be in the real world for the first time, and he looks at her as more than just a competitor."

Since the Cary vs. Alicia aspect was clear right from the pilot episode of "The Good Wife," Czuchry tried not to worry his run on the show might be brief if Alicia ultimately was the one picked for the job.

"I just loved everything (series creators and executive producers) Robert and Michelle King had to say, and with Julianna and everybody else associated with it, I knew it was something special. I just wanted to be a part of it."
