Basically I am writing this as an extension, or storage of my memory, so that should I forget completely I can always come back here and laugh my ass off. There is an added bonus, should you be reading this, hopefully you will get a laugh out of this also.
It was a Wednesday about two months ago, and I had just finished with my chemistry class and came back to the dorm room to write up a lab report for the class. I was done with class at 1 and didn't have another until 4 for about an hour
Around 3 o'clock Tom came back from his class, and told me he was going to take a nap, as he usually does everyday, and that I should wake him up when I was getting ready to go to dinner, because he also informed me he would skip his last class, so that he could go with me too. Now some background of Tom at the time, he had been feeling a little under the weather, not only was he going to skip his last class to relax, but he had really been knocking back the Sudafed pills and at one time had actually forgotten how many he had taken, a bad sign already. Anyhow, he tells me he's going to clean a little and then sleep after that. I go to class as he is beginning to clean.
An hour later I get back from class and he is asleep on his keyboard. I notice the room really isn't so clean still and that in fact there is more junk and crumbs around his desk than there had been earlier. He rouses himself from his sleep and I tell him he had fallen asleep at his desk and had done a crappy job at cleaning up. So he tells me he'll do it later and that he's going to go back to sleep in bed and that I should wake him again when I go to dinner. At about 5:45 he suddenly wakes up and asks me what time it is, so I tell him, and he starts to freak out, OMG OMG, I have a meeting at 6, crap crap crap, I need to shower, OMG, I'm going to be late, and he runs into the bathroom, turns on the shower, and realizes he needs clothes to change into and comes back into the room to get them. I am not aware of any meetings he has that day, but I know he has a meeting the following day, and suddenly realize what has happened and I tell him it is still Wednesday, and that it is not Thursday. He's like, you're shitting me, so I tell him to look at his phone, and he does, finally convinced he turns off the shower and goes back to bed, telling me that he'll get dinner at a later time so I don't have to worry about waking him up.
I go and come back from dinner without any further incidents and he is still asleep. Finally, after having slept off and on from about 4 o'clock, Tom is actually getting up for good at 8:30. The first thing he asks is why the hell I am up so early, and I said because I wanted to work. I had already realized that yet again, he switched ahead a day, but this time I wasn't going to let on immediately and tell him this. So he told me I'm too dedicated and that I need to treat myself nice for once. After about 5 minutes of conversation I told Tom to look out the window, which had been open the entire time. It did not register for several minutes to him that the darkness meant it was night, as at the time it was usually light by 7 in the morning. Then I told him how much of a laugh I had gotten from his earlier escapades. Then deadpan face, he asks me what escapades. I tell him what had happened, and slowly we both put it together that he had been sleepwalking every time he had woken up since 4 that afternoon.
He was in denial, for hours, while I kept on having the biggest laugh of my life wondering how Tom could do so much and have such coherent converations with me while he was basically asleep. I had noticed nothing amiss while he was doing this. He would not believe that he would ever have turned the shower on until I told him to go look at it to see that it was still wet from when he turned it on. Slowly he came to the realization that he actually did sleepwalk. Eventually he went out and got some Wendy's for dinner and he had a difficult time finishing off what would usually be a small bite for him.
Later that night he got hungry again and remembered he had put a sandwich from Quizno's in the fridge that he had saved from lunch. He went and looked, and it was no longer in the fridge. I had no such interest in it as he was sick and plus we don't have the same likes for toppings on our sandwiches. Almost as if a light had turned on in my head, I put one and one together and recalled the multitude of crumbs that had surrounded his keyboard when I first found him sleeping. I proceeded to tell him this, and we came to the conclusion that not only had he had conversations with me, turned the shower on, and completely freak out while he had been sleeping, he also went to the fridge and ate his entire sandwich without realizing it. Earlier it had seemed as if the situation could not have gotten any funnier, but it actually had. He was in complete denial again, only compacted by the fact that when I came back I mentioned all the crumbs, which he wiped into the trash can, so as of now, when he is actually conscious, there was no proof that he ate anything on his keyboard. Now it made perfect sense, however, as to why he had such trouble eating all of his Wendy's meal. He would never throw away such a sandwich, and we both knew that I would not eat it, so like it or not, the only conclusion that we could come up with was that he ate it during his sleep.
I had never laughed so hard and so much in one night until then, as he kept realizing all that he had done while he was asleep and all the crazy antics that he had done too. I laughed for the same reasons that he was in denial. It is one of the many acts of infamy that Tom has done throughout the year that will hopefully live out as hilarious stories later in life. I know I will probably not forget this story, but I am just putting down in text so that I will never have truly lost all the minor details of the story and the true comedy of the situation. I hope you were able to get some humor or laughs out of this story, as I know I sure have, however, I am waiting for the next time he sleepwalks, and will it be just as innocent as last time, or will he have a weapon time.......... I hope I never find out! Enjoy!
