I think this word is silly and really means nothing and first and foremost doesn't change present reality (whatever that may be):

"Potential" means nothing in my opinion (or if not, next to nothing).
Also, and a bit off topic: I did a rough calculation of how many hours I spent in university sitting in class as opposed to skipping. 80% of my 4.5 years (22.5 credits) of university was in class as opposed to independent courses/research and I went to approximately 1/3 of those classes = 432 hours.
In the first semester of grade nine I took four courses each being 110 hours and I had perfect attendance. In other words, I spent more time in class in the first semester of high school than I did in my entire time in university for the past five years.
It really goes to show how much time is wasted in high school I think. I remember teachers would ask why I wasn't doing homework in class or what have you - I wasn't able to articulate at the time basically that I learn in my own ways and if I felt that not doing homework in class was conducive to my education - so be it. University was better because you could skip class without consequence.
