In the year 2000 i drove from Denton to CD Warehouse in Lewisville.
I listened to a klezmatics cd, but wasn't impressed.
I listened to Archers of Loaf's "All the Nation's Airports."
I remember liking the music, but i couldn't stand the guy's voice.
My first friend in Denton, Gabriel Matthew Nicholson, got me hooked on a LOT of great music. He took me from kinda liking Pavement to LOVING them, from hating Jandek & the Residents, to almost understanding them and not entirely minding their music playing. He introduced me to the genius of the Wu-Tang Clan, Halo Benders, and a heap of other bands.
He tried to play me Archers of Loaf, but i wouldn't have it.
I'm sorry Matt. As usual, you were right.
I heard the Archers on a podcast, it was "Strangled by the Stereo Wire,"
and it BLEW MY MIND!
BLEW MY MIND.
I should have given them another try.
ALL YOU OTHER FRIENDS THOUGH, why did you not tell me about this band.
if you knew about these guys, but held back this blessing from me,
let me put it clearly: our relationship is on thin ice.
