It's a MattAlexander Christmas!

That's right, time for turkey dinners, the fightless family and joy and cheer and this time Vivian's going to be here!

I'm at my parent's house right now and it's my second dose of domestic bliss this week. On Monday I took a bus from Toronto to Acton.... or, to Meadowvale. See, Phil thinks he's funny sometimes and we like to put on authoritative, military commander voices sometimes. We pretend sometimes that we are issuing top secret commands to each other once in a while. When we spoke on the phone on Monday morning he told me to take the express bus to Meadowvale. "It is imperitive, Matthew, that you take the express bus to meadowvale. Do you understand Matthew, write this down: The express bus to meadowvale..." I happily made note of the destination and held it in my brain until I arrived at Meadowvale station.

It's a desolate place, Meadowvale. Full of water towers, empty autos and a pair of brown girls waiting for a bus. It's also 20 minutes closer to Union Station than Milton is and when I realized this amazing fact I also realized that Phil had emphasized the wrong part of the message. He and his brother John were to pick me up in Milton at 14:49, but by following Philip's instructions I debussed at 14:25 instead.

I kicked the concrete at my feet and browsed the front pages of the newspapers for sale in their respective boxes (none of which were local papers by the way) and eventually took a look at the schedule posted on the orange brick wall.

Unfortunately Philip's house is long distance from Meadowvale and it cost me $3.75 to call his mother to tell her of my situation. She gave me John's phone number but that too was very long distance, so I called her back collect. She said she'd talk to them and have them get me at Meadowvale.

As luck would have it they arrived at about 14:50 which was interesting to me. If I had indeed stayed on the bus and gotten off at Milton (where in Milton, I did not know at the time) I would have arrived ahead of the Eddolls boys by approzimately 20 minutes. I would have been worrieder than I was at that moment and much more confused seeing as there would not have been a bus schedule for me to peruse.

We all had a great laugh.

My time at Phil's was spent reviewing spaceman footage, eating pizza and RC Cola, watching Garden State, drinking beers, hiking through the woodlands surrounding a golf course, drinking beers, watching tv about the AK47 vs. the M16, eating a delicious home-made meat pie, getting mauled by the new dog, and climbing on top of box cars (that was my favourite part and when I think of it now I remember it as if it were a dream ['cuz I were drinked]). It was a pretty low key couple of days but it was enjoyable because I really don't see Phil often enough.

It's been good to not have school or work right now. My exams rounded out nicely with a poorly written Microeconomics final and I've really just been seeing as much of Vivian as possible (because we're in LOVE). It's nice to be home and I can't wait for christmas.

Don't hate me. It's just that my family gets along well and everything always goes pretty smoothly at holidays. I do miss it being just my family though, I mean parents and brothers. We used to spend hours sitting at the table after dinner talking about movies and politics and would usually settle into the living room to watch something on TV or one of the movies someone got someone as a gift. Now all anyone talks about is their kids and if anything goes on tv it's for the kids. The kids are cute all right but they sure know how to monopolize people's attention.
