You might have noticed that I haven't been updating very often lately.
Ha ha, that's a funny joke because as soon as I said that I'm updating more often I stopped updating you all. Why carry on? I mean really?
Well, things have been interesting actually. School has begun and so far I only have one waste of time bullshit class. The kicker is though that it's an elective so i only have myself to blame. GEO106 - Geographies in Everyday Life, isn't quite what I had in mind. I had a feeling that it might be a little flakey, but otherwise somewhat applicable to my field of study: Urban Planning. The impression I got was that the course was about Geography on the personal scale. Things like what's a comfortable distance for people to live from their jobs, schools, etc. Things like different comfort zones in different cultures. The sorts of things you can remember and tell friends about or apply to your own life.
Instead we get lectures about how things appear differently to different people. It's true! You see there's the outside world, the surroundings which we all share, and all that information out there goes through "cognitive filters" which are different for everybody, and finally we see more or less what we expect to see. We view the world through out own set of eyes. Who knew?! I never would have guessed!
And the worst part is that the prof actually wrote the text book too! So it's two times the bullshit, from the same fucking mouth!
But she's the only prof i don't like. Everyone else is pretty cool and all the other readings are interestings. I heard one of my profs on the radio yesterday because he's the chairman of the group that's rebuilding Regent Park. Another one told a student that he should sit closer if he can't read what's on the board and that if you can see very well from a distance than maybe you shouldn't take up all the first row seats (that's in economics and I think I'm the only guy who likes him), and Keeble tells tall tales of questionable relevence/accuracy. He'll start talking about the course material and then go off on a rant about something like the markup on refridgerators or how there aren't any mechanics anymore, only technicians, and they don't FIX anything, all they do is REPLACE STUFF!!! (caps = raised voice). He's very entertaining and a nice way to end the day after economics.
Also:
Vivian and I went to Niagara Falls and I won $160 in a slot machine. I went in with $20 and left with $160. Not bad, not bad at all! We went on the Maid of the Mist too and that was exciting, and wet, if you know what I mean. (there was a lot of mist). No pictures, but we did get to see a lot of digital cameras get wet and possibly inoperable because people are stupid. I wonder how much the maid of the mist contributes to the digital camera repair industry...?
Hmmmmmm, what else? Jay and I have a regular meeting on Wednesdays to discuss school and things and so far it has been a lot of fun. Trouble is I barely have time for that. I have so much reading and starting this week so many assignments to do. I shouldn't even be seeing so much of Vivian, but I gotta, ya know? I just gotta!
