Wow.
So Life was waiting for me when I got home from work today. It had the most annoyed look on its face. Then, out of nowhere, it slapped me across the face.
"What the Hell was that for," I yelled in shock.
"You have no idea how old you are, do you? I mean, seriously," replied Life, it's hands haughtily resting on it's hips.
I opened my mouth to retort, and stopped myself a split second before the words came out. Life cracked a slight grin, pleased with the fact that I knew what it was talking about.
"You know Matt," Life said, in a fatherly tone, "Just because you don't act your age, doesn't mean that I'm not keeping track of it. You have no idea when I'm going to bring something along for you that someone of your age should be able to handle, whether you're ready for it or not."
I shook Life's hand, and then gave it the warmest hug, completely spinning in a barrage of emotion, because I know that most people don't get this lucky, yet I know that I could very possibly have (after some hard work) ended up very happy; relieved because I know that the trial I have avoided could have easily beaten me, yet sad at the loss of someone that in a way didn't even exist.
Today I will remember for the rest of my time with one of my good friends, Life.
