I hang out with roleplayers so that I can become a real sports fan
So, tonight I attended a match of the Gotham Girls Roller Derby with various NYC Nerds, including the always-cheerful youngiskander and several people from Burning Wheel Headquarters. It had been about six years, by my count, since I had attended any sort of organized sporting event (boffer fighting does NOT count), and I have to admit, it was really awesome. I will definitely go again if I can. The one thing which would have made it better is if the teams were a little more evenly matched in terms of skill level; the Queens of Pain destroyed the Manhattan Mayhem... and it made me sad. Not because I have so much vested in Manhattan over Queens, but just because it made the game a little uninteresting and depressing, especially towards the end.
Early tomorrow-today, now, technically-I will arise and head to LaGuardia, and then to my connecting flight in Detroit, and on to Fort Wayne, place of my birth. Wish me good plane-luck, everyone!
