Disclaimer: I don’t own Matt Murdock. He belongs to Stan Lee.

He’d only been a kid when it had happened. Not even in his teens yet the day that his father was murdered. It was after the incident with the radioactive waste that had left him blinded. His father was meant to throw a fight. But Jack ‘the Devil’ Murdock hadn’t done it. If anything he’d won the fight for him. For his boy. But that didn’t keep him from getting murdered.

When he got older he’d dawned on a mask. A mask that resembled the devil. He took his revenge on murderers… on people that slipped through the cracks of the legal system. He became some what of a vigilante. Became Dare Devil. But those weren’t really about revenge. They were about justice.

It was the battle with the King Pin that had been his revenge. He’d had every intention of killing the man that had killed his father. Except he didn’t kill him. He couldn’t. His father had taught him that fighting wasn’t the answer to everything and it was true… it wasn’t. He took out the King Pin’s knees and left him there for the cops to find.

If not for his father’s teachings he would’ve killed the man. Would’ve made sure that the man was never able to hurt someone else ever again. But he was a better man. Better than the King Pin.

Just flat out better for not killing the man out of revenge for the death of a man that he loved dearly.
