Last night I went to visit my Uncle John. This is always an interesting experience, because he and I share a similar outlook on life, and in so many ways I consider myself to be a lot like him. Besides being a tremendously entertaining person to talk to, he always makes me think about things, and has an amazing way of saying things that somehow seem to apply to exactly whatever I'm experiencing at the time, even if I haven't told him about it. So last night he brought up some things that I found very interesting, and I was so glad to have gone over there. I had promised to go see him over Christmas, and then never got to do it, so the trip was overdue.
In other news, I've decided to start cooking differently. When I first moved out I had a lot of fun eating things that were different from the way I ate at home. A lot of times this meant things like pizza, chicken fingers, and many many other things that came out of a box or bag. I always made sure to work in fruit and vegetables, to keep it balanced, but lately I've found myself missing REAL meals, like mom used to make. So, I went to the store today and bought things like pork chops, and a pot roast. I decided that it takes a bit of time, but it's really not hard to cook up some of these things. Especially if I cook enough to last a few days, and then reheat. So I am starting tonight, and trying to eat "better", or at least more enjoyably. Cooking was one of the things I looked forward to moving out for, and yet I've managed to pass it by almost completely.
