Even if YouTube doesn't go anywhere, a LOT of the channels I like will!!!!!

And the last time a YouTube channel I was interested in said that they were "in trouble" and might have to go on hiatus, they still haven't come back from said hiatus. *actually checks* Wait, apparently they did come back finally? Huh. Well, I'm still scared though.

Also, I found this:

You don't know that, you are overreacting because you are upset.

And the fact that the other one did should reassure you that you have nothing to worry about.

Because I may have something to be upset over.

Well, it did come back, but it took a LONG time for it to come back, so it probably only came back either because they had a LOT of donations from fans or something (which was probably difficult if it took so long), or because maybe YouTube changed their algorithms after the fact (which I doubt). So how do I know that this new thing WON'T lead to YouTube channels I watch going on hiatus or going down??? And what of DeviantArt???

No, you don't.

Because it most likely won't. And you can't be upset over something that is a future hypothetical situation.

Do whatever you want on DeviantArt, it's not going anywhere.

They're apparently doing all of this because a couple of years ago there were a lot of videos of kid-friendly characters like Spider-Man and Elsa doing non-kid-friendly things, and kids were apparently able to see them, and YouTube didn't do anything about it for a while so now COPPA is doing something about it but their definition of "for kids" is so vague that it's going to ruin everything.

I feel like now I have to go to DeviantArt (since apparently it also affects the rest of the Internet) and save EVERYTHING on there that I've wanted to save, TODAY, just in case this leads to those being taken down!

You don't have to worry about it, seriously.

If this is nothing to worry about, then why is everyone on YouTube worried about it???

When exactly does this COPPA thing go into effect? If I knew that, I'd know when to stop worrying (or start worrying more)...

Everyone on Youtube ISN'T worried about it. Remember the perception thing. Just because you see it, doesn't mean it represents the whole ( ... )

1) What site did that information come from? Just wondering.

2) I hope you're right about what COPPA will do.

3) Even if you're right about what COPPA itself will do, the fact that so many people on YouTube are panicking about it and think it might be the end of their channel means that a large number of them (likely including some that I like) are probably going to delete their channels because they think it's a big deal and they want to boycott YouTube/Google/COPPA. And since this applies to the whole Internet and not just YouTube, a lot of people will probably do the same on DeviantArt too.

4) I still don't know if it's in effect yet or not.

Slate news, but it's been all over the place. COPPA is not what these people think it is-it has existed long before Youtube did and will not affect them at all.

No, they won't. They will keep their channel and hope that nothing happens to affect it. Otherwise they are losing revenue for no reason. So they will panic, make videos to cause other people to panic, but keep the channel. The point is-this is absolutely nothing to worry about. What random people say on Youtube does not make something a fact.

Quit obsessing. Go watch a movie. You've spent too much time on the internet this week.

Oh, I know COPPA has been around for a long time. I knew about it because that's why I had to have parental permission to use half of the features on Neopets until I turned 13.

What I was concerned about is I thought that COPPA might be changing, possibly in a way that affects some of the stuff I enjoy. When I said "COPPA" earlier I really meant just the new COPPA-related stuff.
