My throat's at its limit, my body's so strained, my skin was so sticky and my bag was damaged... but it was all worth it!
It was my very first Hiyas experience. To add it up, it happened during the 13th of August, a Friday. But still, bad luck wasn't what entered my day... instead, a horde of great things bombarded me. :D
To sum it all up, My prof in Philo 11 called in sick, I had no class from 7 am until 4 pm, my CW 10 prof indirectly said that I'm his favorite... minor points of how great my day was going...
But the proof of all the luck I had been receiving was the moment when the Hiyas pageant was coming to a close... and the people of Arki chanted the two distinct organizations left with no title... we were anticipating the announcement of the true queen... I felt my heart beating louder than the mashed-up voices, stronger than the seismic stereos around the building...
They were to announce the second runner-up... I was holding my breath with the others...
And they called AF.
Suddenly, everyone was jumping, throwing chairs in the air and literally glomping one another. The pride and joy gleamed in the eyes of every member and applicant of UAPSA-UPD, the org who had Jes as their representative, the organization that won the title of Hiyas.
It was my chosen org. I was elated and I felt my heart beating wildly behind my chest.
Until now, a good 23 hours later, I can still feel the intense excitement and the overwhelming happiness. Whenever I look back at the events of that night, I could not resist to internally squeal in delight or grin like the Chesire cat. It was THAT big of a deal for me, as well as for most of us.
Because of Hiyas, I have begun to see light regarding my choices. I have been very proud of myself that I have chosen the right org. Even if Jes did not win, that thought would still occupy my mind, after all, amidst all the orgs who battled out during the competition, I have seen the respect and pride of UAPSA-UPD for women. Jes did not merely flaunt himself like a seductive temptress, he also showed us that women can also be dominating, fierce and haughty.
As a girl, I felt pride and joy. It was nice to see a break once in a while.
Maybe, that is my reason why I can't get over with his winning. Jes, and the UAPSA-UPD family, really deserved the award. This statement, coming from me, may sound biased; however, even people outside the organization can attest to it. It really was amazing... in all parts.
Here are some photos from the competition c/o Trisha, Lloyd, Aileen and the other mems and apps who supported Jes all the way through.
