THE END OF AN ERA

Jan 10, 2004 12:47

Well, I have to start school again on Monday, and I have been "lucky" enough to have been tossed the unchewable bone of a 9 am class. That's right, NINE. Now, anyone who knows anything about me knows that my circadian rhythms are only in sync with night hours, i.e. those kept by either graveshift workers, certifiable insomniacs, and those who are ( Read more... )

while they may not build on each other, they might have Trig. pinned down as a pre-req. for Calculus making her stuck taking it, which is obviously unfair and stupid but... what can you do? But if it's not a pre-req. hopefully the girl will protest about it.

9am? Quit yer whining. I got stuck in an 8am last semester. YES 8am. But then I would retreat back to my dorm and had the opportunity to attempt sleep before I had a club meeting or class. Of course most of those nap attempts were futile.

It isn't a pre-req. My point is that the advisor didn't know that it ISN'T, and she was buying in to his bogus advice.
Well, I will probably doing the same thing as you: taking naps when I get home, then getting up for 4 to go to work. Unless Carrie's off, since there's no way I'm passing up time with her.

you should have pulled her off to the side and told her

Where are you taking classes again?

Anyone that stupid and sheep-like DESERVES to be put in a curriculum maze for the rest of her life. I wasn't ABOUT to help her out.

Keep her going in circles so she won't get in the way of the rest of us.

Read some Darwin sometime, and you'll see what I mean. Hehe

You really need to think about finding a hobby.

It might blow waking up, but at least you're bettering yourself. Which needed to be done.

What are you going for? Math or politics?

That's because I might have told you how I squandered the semester before last on Biochemistry classes, because I was considering changing to that major, with a minor in Finite Math.
I decided to go back to the major I've had for 3 years, since it's my first love anyway, AND I'm much closer to finishing, AND the $$$'s a lot better (but I swear that's the least important). Anyone who knows me knows how obsessed I am with politics and legislation, it really isn't a money issue. That's not to say I won't take it...

Well Mat, I couldn't take it anymore, I have to admit in my moment of procrastination and boredom, I have found your journal and being as I know you outside of the internet I am forced to comment. I had no idea you even had a major, but speaking from experience there is not much you can do with a poly sci degree. But since you are pre-law also, I was wondering how long you were planning on milking the I dont have to grow up I'm still in school bit. I am allowed to dis you as I went to school forever then had to go back to actually get a job in with I try my damnest to teach the future of our country, which is not looking very good. So back to the reason I was forced to write is Trig is so needed for Calculus. At one time I was a math major and if I had not learned all that sin cosine bullshit in trig in high school, all those calculus classes would have been a bit more tough since it is the basis for calculus. But I will end by agreeing with you in that advisors are useless, and i would question as to whether they actually have ( ... )

"The I don't have to grow up I'm still in school bit?"

What the hell is that supposed to mean?

And as far as you teaching the youth of tomorrow, and the fact that they're "not looking very good"... could it have anything to do with the fact that they're being TAUGHT by people with the grammar and punctuation skills of an eight-year-old? hehe

And sorry you had to be so wrong about the Trig/Calc thing, but... you are. There are, like you said, about two or three things that Trig teaches you that you may have to figure out on your own if you take Calculus first. Awww, poor baby. But that doesn't exactly register Trig as a pre-req, because the classes do not "build" upon each other.
