[AU] meet the androids

DOLLs; In the future, computers are shaped like humans. Servants, and caretakers, the DOLLs work tirelessly for their masters and mistresses.

Specs;
Recent upgrades include soft fabricated skin that is made to be as realistic as possible to sight and touch. The skin also helps release heat along with a liquid system that helps keep their system cooled and running smoothly. Joints are also liquid based, lubricated for smooth motions and built to use as much strength as possible without using all the power of the DOLL.

They're powered by, not only a self-recharging system that uses the heat from the system to store energy, along with a system that uses the motions of walking and everyday life to regain energy. However, the main power comes from breaking down organic substances, so that the DOLL can consume 'food' alongside humans and integrate into normal society. Some of the more expensive DOLLs can run for months on a charge with the ecosystem battery system.

Most DOLLs come with a 'tail' with a retractable cord so that all their ports are easily available, but not distracting.

Models;
Personal - The DOLLs a normal person can buy for house use. This model is varied and comes in submodels such as Musical, Artistic, Business, and others.

Vendors/Salesbots - They stand in store fronts and help out people to pick out items. These models are lightly built, more for looks than actual brains or battery life. Often times they are simply plugged in after closing.

Caretakers/Nannybots - Filling in for busy mothers and fathers, and also taking care of the elderly, these DOLLs are built to look more cartoon-y than human, often with more emphasis on brains and problem solving so they won't make any mistakes--because their mistakes could be fatal for those in their care.

Childbots/Fake kids - For the couples who always wanted a child, but didn't have the time or care into raising a real one. An upgraded version of a robot pet, basically. These DOLLs are made to "grow" and often are packaged with extra chassis sets to swap out to give the DOLLs the appearance of "aging". Some couples decide to have their Childbots age backwards, or not at all--it depends on the couple and the DOLL's programming. These are probably the most human-looking DOLLs, next to the Sexbots.

Helping Hands/Servants - Any profession that requires an extra set of hands around to follow orders--doctors, mechanics, bakers--these are the DOLLs to buy. Customized for each profession, these models are the most diverse other than the Personal DOLLs.

Sexbots - Made for more looks and touch, these models aren't made to hold much brainpower. Often they are hacked to erase all memory banks at the end of the day to keep customer identities secret. Most of this model simply look like well endowed females or males, but there are the exaggerated models with otherwise impossible on a living human, or the fetish models.

Workers - Many models are used in background jobs that no human will do anymore. Often these models are bare bones, or have metal shielding rather than fake skin and are generally built to withstand more damage than usual.

Etc - There's more models than I can obviously list here. Most of the others are purely custom jobs, such as Lavi who was made to fit the Bookman Clan's needs and will probably not have a duplicate model until she begins to break down.

Customization;
Most models of DOLLs are made to be able to be interchangeable. The base frame is usually the same from model to model so that if one wanted they could swap out parts and create the model they would like for that moment. This is most used to change out power systems when wanting to change how the DOLL will get and store power. However, it's also used for Personal DOLLs to make it possible to use them as Sexbots for a limited amount of time before changing them back to their original format.
