I think my inner-clock is eternally effed up. Some days, no matter how much I try, I can't get out of bed before 1 pm. Other days like today, no matter how much I want to sleep my body decides 9:30 am is the time. Oi. It's for the better, as I need to drag myself out of this room and get things done. Really, I'd rather just sleep all day and watch The Office.
Plans for today: Haircut. Find cute black dress for my party Saturday and most importantly, get my ass over to RedRoaster and try to start my papers. I'm hoping a change of scenery and endless supply of coffee might do me some good in the motivation department. I'd also like to buy some silken tofu and frozen veggies to finally quell this lasagna craving.
Yesterday went to AllSorts. Lots of new faces. Mostly college students (in the British sense) who heard my accent and went all "OMG ARE YOU AMERICAN!?!" Sometimes it's endearing, but sometimes I wish I could be less obviously foreign when I speak. Especially since being American has so many other connotations. This one kid, who was nice albeit young-sounding, kept making comments about how things we were doing were "so American". For example, Brian was wearing a sweatshirt and was cold and that was apparently very indicative of America. Okay. Sometimes, though pretty rarely, I get a little defensive of my country, at least as far as sweeping generalizations are concerned. He found out I was vegan and made another "so American" comment, to which I was like, wait, actually, I've met more vegans in the UK than in America. He was all, oh, well I respect that decision but I don't agree with it. He wasn't trying to be mean, he was just new to AllSorts and trying to make friends, but hadn't quite charmed me by the end of it.
Next week we're going to give the Sussex LGBT another try just to see if it's less awkward now. Also, it's totally time to suss out who the gayzz are here for realz.
Tomorrow I'm being rebellious and going out on a school night. Not that my school nights are that different from my weekends, class-wise. It's just all this independent work I keep putting off. We have a rematch at pool (America vs. England) and Revenge on Thursday is apparently where it's at.
Also, did I mention my Ecology class has a mandatory field trip worth 40% of our grades? That's pretty cool. We get to play outside for credit. Yesss. The only negative side is I have to buy some wellies for it since my waterproof foot-wear is non-existent.
