Update?

Wow, I feel like a lot has happened since my last update. If only I can remember what it all was.

Well, I sent in my Butler application to study abroad. I got sick of worrying about it and changing my mind every 5 seconds so I just mailed it in so I didn't have to think about it anymore. I picked the University of Sussex in Brighton, England. My main decision came down to accessibility/cost of travel, vegan-friendliness (a.k.a. most likely to not waste my money on food/a meal plan I won't eat) and, most importantly, amount of work. While that makes me sound like a slacker, I'm really tired of being stressed all the time and never really being able to just focus on my work. Plus, I want to have as much free time as possible to do/learn/visit/etc. things outside of academia. Saying as I'm pretty lost right now regarding what I want from/to do with my life, having some free time to really travel and have hobbies is my priority. That said, I'm going to apply to St. Andrews as my alternate choice, which is funny, because it's probably more competitive to get into, haha.

Geographically, Scotland seems like more fun/prettier (from what I remember), but I can always visit, and will, so there.

*Exhale* So there's that. Now I don't have to be flipping out over abroad stuff all the time. Still have a lot left to do like get recommendations, meet with my adviser and finish up my Plan of Study. So far I sent in the Butler app with the application fee, wrote my essays and signed my release form (but haven't mailed those in yet) and ordered transcripts to be sent from Bannerweb. Left to do:

-- Get 8 passport-sized photos from CVS,
-- Make sure my passport isn't expired,
-- Figure out my credit issues for the classes I want to take (a full load is 120 credits a year, I have 117, but if I pick one more class I'll go over by at least 10 credits),
-- Meet with my adviser, ask her to do a Rec and sign my PoS,
-- Get study abroad office to sign form,
-- Mail my personal essays and shit,
-- Do the Summary of Preparation (no idea what's going on with that, anyone wanna recommend books about England),
-- Do all this again for my alternate choice, St. Andrews.

P.S. Thanks to everyone who offered me advice/listened to me flip out about this forever, you all are a giant help. <3

On a completely different note, I re-discovered all my old accounts for those get-paid-to-surf-online programs from several years ago. Logged into one of them at Spedia.net and discovered I had $102 I never cashed out. Um, SWEET! Talk about money at a good time. It says I earned it in 2004 though and I don't think I've touched the website for several years, but if they will send me money, I'm not complaining. Besides that, I discovered another website that pretty much just pays you to run a program on your computer called Gomez Peer. It takes 14 days for your account to get approved and you get like .03-.05 cents an hour that you're processing, but you literally do nothing and pretty much forget it's there while earning, so that's cool.

On a further scour for monies I came across another good survey for money site as well (seriously, this week was pretty much a search for money on the web after finding that $102). In case anyone is also interested in answering questions for monies, check out: ClickIQ.

Hmm, what else? I feel a little less emo. So yay. My new stressor is trying to rapidly finish all my work by reading period so I can attempt to drive to Philly and see Hal as he's going to be gone forevs in Israel. This feat might prove to be impossible since I have a History take-home final and a take-home Logic exam. Previous take-homes in those classes have required 10 and 15 hours work, respectively. I don't get my History exam until the day before reading period, so I doubt I can get a head start. In any case, this is going to be a very last minute decision, indeed.

I have no self-scheduled exams, so I'll probably be heading home a couple days early too, which gives me more time to chill out before coming back and working 495035 hours during J-Term (hopefully). Never heard anything back about the $8/hour School for Social Work Job, so I applied to another at Admissions. Only $7.50/hour and 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, but money is money. The early wake up every day will suck hardcore, but I guess I can deal for three weeks. Plus, it may get my foot in the door for a summer job at Admissions, which would be cool.

I guess that's it. List of what I've left to do this semester (mostly for my own use):

--Write 2 page Psych Paper -- Dec 19th
--History Final Take Home Exam -- Dec 20th
--Logic Take Home Exam -- Dec 22nd
--Finish up and organize Personal Holistic Goal and evaluation packet (Hampshire class)-- tomorrow
--Psych Exam -- Dec 14th
--Logic homeworks -- next 1.5 weeks
--HST & psych readings next 1.5 weeks

Not too bad.
