Work day and packages

Forgot to mention one thing yesterday: a slightly late birthday present for meself, Harlequin Nocturne's "Christmas in Salem", a collection of paranormal romance stories set in Salem at Christmas (Might read this for Christmas in July), and a plushie of Anubis as a puppy, black with gold trim and velvety fur. Adorable!

Work today and I had a bit of a rough day, but nothing I couldn't handle. That time of the month crept up of a sudden, not having too bad of a time of it, aside from feeling more tired than usual (also, this explains the inspiration dry up that's come upon me). Though I had some comedy gold at work: we have this bin of water squirters that look like long colored plastic tubes with a plunger at one end, and people kept playing with them, play-acting at squirting each other. Kids, teenagers, guys, ladies: hardly saw anyone buy any, though, till one woman bought one for her nieces, though she added, "I'm buying it for them, but my husband will probably get ahold of it."

Shortly before I left for work, we got a call from my dad: he'd rescued a baby blue jay that had somehow ended up in the middle of the street close by the greenhouse where he works. Little guy was a smidge too young to be out of his nest, but his parents were nearby, screeching the proverbial blue streak at my dad. He was considering bringing the little one home to raise him, but I advised against it, since the parents were nearby. I looked up some pages on caring for nestlings, and found one bit of advice from a veterinarian, telling you to place the little one in a safe, sheltered place where the parents can find the wee one; in the meantime, dad had found a hollowed log where he could put the wee one, the parents watching him the whole time.

Back to reading "Skin Game": Jim Butcher is throwing the twists right and left, bringing back characters I had hoped would turn up again and giving others some interesting Levels in Badass.
