Sorry if you folks on my friends list saw an especially miserable entry recently, I've not had a clear head for some time due to a number of things and I wound up venting about it more than I probably should have (yes, I know, since it's my blog, I can post what I like, but still, one has to put limits on how much you vent, otherwise, it turns into self-aggrandizing jabber, and I shouldn't have subjected people to it). I still need to work on recovery, but that process will continue as it will.
Work has provided me something of an outlet: all the nonsense in my fannish and writing life seems to have inoculated me against the usual holiday madness, also the back brace has helped me immensely when I have to hoist a full-size frozen turkey.
Quiet day today, but I needed it, with the week I've got ahead of me: I got three days of slinging turkeys and who knows but I might get called in the days after Thanksgiving. This might get a little tricky, since I've got an anthology deadline coming up the first of December. Wish me luck: this late and my submission is only half-finished.
Went to Mass at St. Mike's in North Andover today: the feast of Christ the King by the new calendar. One thing that bugs me about the traditional calendar: this feast falls randomly in the middle of October, when it seems more logical to place it at the end of the year, in a nod to Christian eschatology, since the month of November deals in honouring the souls of the faithful departed, and in so doing, we're minded of our own death and the eventual passing of this world.
Had dinner at Cracker Barrel, and since today was my name day (St. Cecilia), my dad got me a slice of their double fudge cake as a takeaway.
Went through some of the books in piles on the floor of my room and found more I could read and pass on, which I've shifted to another pile. Got back to reading the second of Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments books, "City of Ashes". Interesting world building and I like the magical tools in use, though the characters have touches of wish fulfillment aspects to them (I just might not have a spot in the target audience, for that matter).
