Saturday Catch-up Entry

Thursday - Errands before I went to work: went to the bank in Wilmington to deposit/cash my state tax refund, also picked and cashed the rather tiny paycheck from last week. I may have supplemented it a bit from the tax refund, though I put most of it into the savings account.

Also had a package arrive in the mail, at long last, Lord Dunsany's "The King of Elfland's Daughter", which I've started re-reading. Such wondrous language and such an excellently limned faery-tale world.... though it's more the kind of faery tale that tells what happens *after* the happy ever after, and as such, it isn't always a comforting story. Magic rarely is and as G.K. Chesterton pointed out, there are more things in Elfland than sweet things.

Friday - Quiet day mostly, aside from going for a walk with my mum to run a few errands. Picked up a few things at the dollar store and also swapped out some nickels and dimes for quarters at the bank.

And it started snowing on this first day of spring. Not surprising, given how this winter has gone, and then again, we once had sixty degree weather on the first day of winter a few years back. Not much accumulating, maybe an inch or two. This won't last, though, given that the temps will bounce back into the forties and fifties next week.

Also! Major development: Mum got Flurry the Budgie to walk up her arm and onto her shoulder. I've gotten the little widget to do that with me, but Mum doing it is a major step for the both of them.

Today - Housework this morning: vacuum sweeping the rugs and cleaning Oskar the cockatiel's coop. Work later today, just reading messages and hitting a few RP tags.

books, weather wackiness, budgies
