Hopefully those countries which now file their applications for becoming a member of the NATO don't forget that membership doesn't only mean getting "safe from a Russian invasion", but also, whenever the United States are up in a war again with anyone, they're firmly part of the cleanup squad then after that skirmish.

And let me throw in a for example - if Syria tosses some bombs at Turkey, does Finland want to defend Turkey from Syria?

At the moment, Turkey says it will block the entry of Finland and Sweden, but everybody is acting like they can find a bribe large enough to change Turkey's mind.
