Sure this gets you more than school itself.

I can hardly say how that course must have went for those people I went to school with. You know, me was a lower class kid doing A levels; there weren't many else of that kind.
So mostly middle class bourgeois kids I went to school with.

During school times they didn't leave the impression like they knew there is a world not only friendly towards you, except for maybe a few limited people - and I don't know how many could be turned around during the course until the graduation.
So, how can I say? - I experienced those people circling around a lot about the ideas of the world being open to them, that they can make everything, and that everything will be according to as they envision it. Like - file an application for a job, you get the job without waiting and all that stuff.
Just say, typical bourgeois mindset. No worry about the future, no worry about will they be rejected or adult life will be hard.

This was some of the things I was acquainted with already then. From own experience, from understanding how things work in this society, what gets honored, what gets punished - and from politics in foreign lands I could watch that people were only exploited, beaten, exterminated, used as tools for big rich asses' wishes.
None of that open world that waits just for me to come to it, this is what I saw.
