This has been quite the day.
As I mentioned to my brother, I woke up today feeling pretty horrible. You know when you have those days where you feel like you're on top of the world? I was having the exact opposite of that. About the only thing I felt good about was my almost non-existant cough. I still have two more days on the antibiotic, but the inflammation or whatever is definitely under control.
Still, I dragged myself out of bed at 6AM and caught my bus at 6:30 and got here in 2 hours and 15 minutes. That's a record, by the way! The head of the other campus was here today and he called me in for a meeting at 10ish. He was concerned about lack of library usage, which I understand. I told him that I need a little time. I've only been here 2 weeks, so I'm learning a lot right now and haven't really had the time to do PR for the library. Plus, there aren't many students enrolled for the summer. He was completely understanding of this and sent me on my way.
Well, the day got much better after that. I taught 2 classes so I finally really got to meet some students and was invited to speak in a third class as well. The students seemed really happy to get into the library and learn what we have. Now I just have to get them to come in and use it.
What I've learned in all of this is that I really love this line of work. I'm so happy to have this job and even happier that I'm really beginning to flex some professional muscle. Melissa and I have very big ideas for our campuses, and I'm sure we'll see them through.
I'm seriously exhausted now, though and I still have about 45 minutes to work and another 150 minutes to commute, but now I feel like I can conquer the world as opposed to it conquering me. :)
In other news: Green Day:RB tomorrow! Not that I'll really get to play it till Sunday (and I'm really looking forward to that!), but I'll be glad to have it. Till then it's more Blur (Oh my god, I have such an inexplicable love for this game) and possibly some Grand Theft Horse Red Dead Redemption.
