Went to see the vet today. Her weight was about 2 pounds less than two years ago. Not normally a big deal, but she's now weighing in at 6 pounds! She's always been on the slight side though, and as she hasn't had regular weigh-ins, it' tough to tell if it's a gradual or sudden thing.
Doc (who was a gem) gave her a check-over and felt something in her tummy/bowels. She's putting money on it being something on the way out, but couldn't really tell for sure. Given Caiomhe's age and overall healthy appearance, she prescribed some medicine thinking it's just a virus or inflammation. Unfortunately, we had to drop her off at the kennel tonight, so I feel horrible that the kennel owners will have to keep a watch on her. Saying that, I completely trust them. They have our vet info, and if she seems to get worse, they know which vet to call, and our vet already told us that if she comes in, they'll do a blood draw and keep her at the kennel until they get her straightened out. We're to take her back in either when we get back or a couple weeks after just for another check-in to make sure she's doing ok.
really, I feel as good as I can before leaving on a trip. She's definitely not serious enough to warrant canceling the trip, and the kennel people do such a wonderful job that I know she's in great hands.
Thanks for your good wishes, and keep them coming :)
