And when she talked about the fall I thought she talked about Mark E. Smith

I came to a realization the other day that for me, at this particular time and stage of my life, it's kind of worth it to buy expensive shoes. Now, when I say shoes, I am not including heels or otherwise coquettish fancy-dress things, which I wear maybe once every eight months for a maximum of five hours a shot. I mean shoes, real shoes, that I ( Read more... )

I do have a car, but I work retail and think nothing of paying lots for a good pair of shoes. My favorite is the Dansko Jocelyn. I'm on my second pair now, but they lasted me over two years and I wear them pretty much every day.

I need to get me a pair of new sandals, possibly tan ones.

Also congrats on the internship. I am working on that now and will hopefully have one this summer and then I am sooooooo close to done with my MLS.

Those look insanely comfortable. I as well could use some sandals, but will probably continue to wear out my 2-dollar target flip-flops. Those little shits last an alarmingly long time.

Danke! Where, out of curiosity, are you getting your MLS? Do you have a particular focus/burning passion? I'm pretty wide open as of now, but I'm heading down an archives management track. Fingers crossed on the ending up liking it after all thing.

My degree will be from the University of North Texas, and I will receive said degree without ever going to Texas, hee hee. I really think I would like to do reference, young adult stuff or management. I seem to be good at management, and it sort or makes me want to punch things because of management-related stereotypes. Oh well. Sometimes, managers are good people.

I really hope I end up liking it too. You never know. I am in my current job (retail management) totally by accident.

Interesting! I know a lady who got her entire PhD in a similar fashion.

I'm taking a management class this fall, and I'm a little wary. Probably due to the stereotypes. Don't punch me! I've actually had pretty good management experience as an underling, and should probably keep that in mind as I go through the class. At any rate, good luck!

The problem is with managers who are not cut out to lead people. There are a lot of justified negative stereotypes, and we've all probably worked with one of those people at one time or another. Or are very fortunate if we have not.

Thanks for the luck. You too!
