Laying aside Torchwood, I have been up to other things recently. Last weekend
jay_ra and K. came to stay, as they were in town for Waiting for Godot. We had general geeky times and much fun was had. Next week I'm off to Luxembourg for their wedding, hurrah!
On Sunday, as they were leaving,
blueeyedgirl36's daughter S. (aged 19) arrived to stay for a few days. Sunday evening we went to the taping of Charlie Brooker's new show,
You Have Been Watching. Was great to see the man himself in the flesh, and it turns out he's actually a rather jolly chap who laughs a lot. (They're talking about Torchwood in this Tuesday's show, will be interesting to see what they make of it! I really hope David Mitchell is on). I took Monday off work (flexi-time is a beautiful thing) and S. and I slept in and then in the afternoon hit Portobello Road, then went to see Public Enemies in Leicester Square. Good film. Then it was dinner and cocktails and home. Tuesday I was back at work but had planned a lovely picnic in St James' Park for lunch... that got rained off so we went for coffee in a local pub instead. Tuesday evening we had food, drank wine, watched Kill Bill vol. 1 and then You Have Been Watching. Weds she left. It was all brilliant fun and I hope we can do it again sometime.
Hence I spent Wednesday night catching up with Torchwood. But we'll say no more about that!
Having a fairly productive Saturday, which feels good. Nice to have a 3-day week this week, and then I'm off to Lux via Eurostar on Thurs. Staying there til Sunday, then having a couple of nights in Brussels on the way back. Return Tuesday.
Plus! Have booked 2 lovely trips away with
emmzzi - in November we're going to Egypt for a week - Cairo and Luxor - for my birthday. Then next Feb I seem to have booked for the
SFX Weekender - yay.
