Huat Kueh
I steamed some Huat Kuehs tonight and I'm mighty glad to say that I did not make this out of premixes.
I'm terrible at baking. So far, nothing that I baked came out right. So, I finally decided to turn to steaming Huat Kuehs after I saw some sales promoters promoting their pots by steaming these Chinese cupcakes. I wanted to do what they did - buy the premixes but none of the supermarkets in my neighbourhood carries that. I searched the net for a couple of recipes. My first attempt with one of the recipes failed terribly. I think it was because I used the wrong ingredient. I bought coconut cream instead of coconut milk. Ethan was so looking forward to it and was extremely disappointed at the outcome of that failed attempt.
After Ethan had gone to bed, I tried a second recipe which, thankfully, worked. Tomorrow, the boy will get his breakfast surprise! I hope they taste good!
