The CD-Key to MathNerd's Moods

Apr 12, 2005 18:15

Reunited with my CD's this weekend, I flipped through, trying to decide which one got first honors. The eventual winner was the mix CD from Eclectic Enigma, prominently featuring The Be Good Tanyas. She referred to it as "excellent cooking music," which of course only I would understand, and she's right. It's a CD to cook to (and awesome). End of the story.

A bunch of my collection is like that. Partially because of my taste in music, partially because I compartmentalize a lot, my CD collection is mentally sorted in emotional sections. Do you do this? Tell me your CD for some of these moments, or tell me CD's for some of the times you need music. Please.

What does the MathNerd listen to? Well...

*I hope living in love is exactly like Lucy Kaplansky's The Red Thread
*Breaking up will always be the Counting Crows' Recovering the Sattelites
*Loneliness is Beth Orton's Central Reservation
*Best Cleaning Music in the world? The Naked Boys Singing! soundtrack
*My love life is pretty much Jewel's Pieces of You
*The perfect road trip is Lisa Loeb's Tails
*To understand raw sexual desire, try MeatLoaf's Bat Out Of Hell
*My soundtrack for sorrow is 10,000 Maniacs' MTV Unplugged album
*I really miss Unplugged...I think Alanis Unplugged is a great girl power album, but then so is anything by Ani or the Indigo Girls.
*Contemplation, however, is best served by Dar Williams...any and all
*The guy friend you wish you could knock back a beer with is best approximated by Stuart Davis's Kid Mystic
*And I'll end with a quote from an IC 4th of July festival..."Greg Brown would be great if I had a beer in one had, a cigarette in the other, and my boyfriend had just killed my best friend."
