Waking up frightened

Aug 27, 2005 20:13

I woke up scared and confused today in the car of a friend driving me home after a move. This is not what I'm going to talk about. What I'm going to talk about is something that I learned from this. It seems o me, all of a sudden that at the core of every single person there resides a "negative" emotion that everybody taps when the going gets tough. It may be described as negative because it is defensive or anti-social or not something that good girls are supposed to feel. I actually do not believe that these should be classified as negative emotions (the quotation marks are a dead giveaway)but instead are an intrinsic part of everyone that gives them more character and warmth and humanism than a thousand virtues. In fact from here on when writing a character I'm going to make their core kneejerk emotion part of there description. I hope you guys can swallow this. Now if you go one step further with me I'd like your help in identifying to me what you think your "negative" trait is. I must warn you that if you do not respond with one I'm going to tell you what I think yours is. I'll give you an example. I believe that mine vacillates between sad and scared. GO!
