Lights

That's my name.  What I go by.  How I'm called.  At least, when I'm running lights.  It's kind of funny, really, it's the sort of name you don't know people are going to call you, but once you hear "Lights, your cue", you realise, oh, people call me "Lights".
Names people get are an interesting thing.  I'm always wondering how that cutie over there got her nickname of "Roll", or how this kid over here got his name of "Doctor James".  I kind of like the idea of nicknames.  That person who gives you the nickname, whatever the name is, it describes how you make them feel- and no matter what, whenever they call you that name, you know at least somewhere deep down they're thinking about what that name means to them.  My ex, for instance, when I see her, I just see her there standing with her boyfriend.  But when I think of one of her nicknames, I remember all the emotions and the joy that came from being with her.
At the same time, there're nicknames like "Frizbitch", "Lil' Green", and "Pipemania", that aren't that good, and whenever those nicknames are mentioned, I feel the emotion of annoyance and rage.
Here's what I think happens.  Let's use the word "clock" as an example.  When someone says "clock", they mean a clock.  The thing that keeps time.  When you see the thing that keeps time, it is a clock.  That's the word, and that thing is its definition.  When you make a nickname, you actually create a new word, and its definition.  How cool is that?
