A Hunting I Will Go...

"A hunting I will go, hi-ho the dairy-oh a hunting I will go." Mads sang in the brisk morning air as he approached Tino and Berwald's hut and banged obnoxiously on the door. "WAKE UP SVENK, Short-Stuff! Today we bring back food for squaws and little braves."

Tino's groggy voice could be heard from within. "You better be calling me Little Brave ( Read more... )

Gilbert slowed his stride before he made it through the butcher's hut door, his muscles still aching but his mind full of excitement from the prospect of getting to make wurst himself. Before he even opened his mouth to ask, his red eyes picked up a glint of light off of a familiar metal shape sitting on the end of the table. "Oh fuck ja!" the tired prussian thought to himself the moment he realized what it was he was looking at. Before he got too distracted though, he noticed Eeva at the end of the room chatting with the butcher. Exactly the person he needed to see at the moment. "Hey, you. You sew and scheiße, ja?" He questioned, giving her a friendly nudge. "Well, Birdie needs stitches and you're the only one of us that would have that stuff. So...do you?"

Meanwhile, Eduard sat himself down and waited for his boyfriend to return from searching for the needle and thread. He removed the makeshift dressing from his arm and proceeded to take a closer look at the damage the sow had done to him. That was completely discounting the aches and nasty looking bruises that were most assuredly going to bloom over the next couple of days. He could feel it already and it wasn't going to be pretty. The gash on his upper arm was the more pressing issue, however, and he spent a few quiet moments trying to judge just how many stitches he was going to need to give himself and just how he was going to deal with the discomfort of doing so.

"Oh he-" Eeva gasped, releasing a puff of air. "How bad?" She asked, she would of course give over the needle and thread, but if necessary she'd sew her dumb buddy up by herself. She would never let him do it himself if he'd be stitching with his left hand or something. "I'll go take care of it. Sorry, I have a cut up friend, I'll be back in a while." She apologized to the butcher as she gathered up her skirts and dashed off to go locate her sewing kit.

Meanwhile Tino brought his collection of snacks to the sauna and knocked gently on the door. "Beeerwald?" he questioned, checking to see if his lovey was in there. He had a feeling his was, but why not play a little bit.

"Yes, by the hair on my chinny-chin-chin. I'm naked and vulnerable." Berwald replied with a chuckle in his voice as he heard the sweet voice of his lover outside.

"Please do come in and take advantage of me!"

Gilbert didn't get much of a chance to answer Eeva's question before she hurriedly shuffled out of the hut and off to wherever she stowed her things. He figured that it would probably take her a couple of minutes to find the sewing kit, which would afford him the time to ask the butcher about the meat grinder,so he didn't follow right away. Holding himself back from salivating over the device, Gilbert asked the butcher if he would be able to use the grinder to make wurst once the boars they had caught were processed and ready to go. The man ran his large hands through his very impressive beard, looked Gilbert over and eventually consented to saving the trimmings and a few cuts of meat for him. Finally, before he headed back to where he last saw Eduard, Gilbert made sure to ask the butcher to clean and save the intestines for use as casings later on. The man gave him a wordless grunt of agreement before setting about his work. Having that out of the way, Gilbert set out to rejoin his wounded boyfriend.

After a few minutes of examination, Eduard judged that he would only really need a few stitches to keep things together. Getting everything cleaned up and sterilized was what he needed to do more than anything. With how bad those animals smelled, there was bound to be all sorts of unsavoury bacteria all over them. Siguard handed him a small, rustic looking container filled with an unknown concoction and Eduard proceeded to dab at the wound on his arm with a strip of cloth dipped into the liquid. Leave it to Siguard to find the right sort of mix to do the trick. A small grimace graced the Estonian's face as both his best friend and boyfriend made their way to the hut he was stationed in.

It didn't take long for Eeva to join them with her sewing kit. "Alright show me the carnage." She insisted watching Eduard dabbing the antiseptic on his arm. "Tell me what you did."

Tino smirked. "Then I'm gonna huff and puff and come in there and fondle you." He fake-growled like a hungry wolf, starting to strip before he even made it into the hot box. "Oh it feels so good in here." He moaned in bliss at the feeling of the hot steam hitting his skin as he quickly slammed the door shut. He set the basket of food down and went back into the game, hands on his hips facing Berwald. "Well well well, what is it I've found here?" He teased.

"Too much hair on my chinny-chin-chin and not enough Big Bad Wolf kissing me." Berwald chuckled looking toward the Blur standing akimbo in the steam.

"Do I smell food? You are the best Man!Wife Hubby on the planet."

"How come you just assume that I did something foolish and am suffering the consequences, E?" Eduard looked up from his work at the comment from his friend. "I am shocked, offended, and more than a little hurt." He blinked at her, adjusting his glasses and attempting to keep a straight face. "I landed the kill shot on the sow when she charged Ti and I, but she crashed into and almost through me with her remaining momentum. This happened to be the worst of the damage."

That was when Gilbert made it back to where Eduard was stationed and he saw that Eeva was already there, but had yet to haul out her needles. For a moment he watched the comfortable smile on his boyfriend's face and his relaxed body language around such a close, long time friend. It made him take into thought his own friends. He had Francis and Antonio, his closest friends since childhood, Eduard, the one who had changed his life, Mathias, his partner in crime, and now his new cadre of nordic companions. It struck him then that he was much richer in companionship than he had ever thought himself to be before. Once again, the change was all thanks to the bright-faced young Estonian sitting at the end of the bench. Seeing him happy like that tended to make him think about how lucky he was to not have fucked up too badly and to not have scared the genius away.

"Hey, Birdie. Your sexy nurse dude is here." Gilbert grinned as he made his way over, sitting down next to his boyfriend on the bench.

Eeva smirked. "You're usually very careful with yourself so why shouldn't I assume something stupid happened to get you hurt?" She chortled, projecting the feeling that she knew he hadn't been stupid (was he ever?) as she started the process of disinfecting the needle and thread in the vodka Siguard had provided. "This is going to hurt, there's no local anesthetic. I'm going to stitch you up myself just because I can do it very fast and I have both my hands to work with. No offense to your pride, but I don't want to be drawing this out okay? Want something to bite down on? Gilbert, give me your belt." She ordered, not really giving Eduard the choice. She knew he was a tough thing, but she also knew that stitches with nothing to numb the area could hurt rather bad and in Eduard's manliness he might not want to groan or moan or whimper at all. He might keep his jaw clenched nice and tight and soldier on. But she wasn't about to let him damage his teeth over this. Maternal reasoning and instinct washed over the four people standing there, it came off of Eeva in waves and to Siguard it was almost like a palpable hormonal odor. His Fae senses much more attuned to the world than the other two. Eeva might not even be aware that she was using her projective empathy, trying to infect the other two with a secure, comfortable willingness to be obedient to her reasoning. What good boy could defy his mother while he was hurt, or while she was going to right a wrong for him? Siguard smiled knowingly. It's not as though they would THINK she was their mother, they had INTELLECT after all, but on some primal, subconscious, instinctual level that empathetic wave could leave them awash in her safety and security just as a mother's touch could. No wonder it was hard to hate her, even when she was being teasing. She just had to change gears, change her focus, and even people like Gilbert whom she had harassed quite fully the first night of vacation couldn't help but be comfortable with her after a short amount of time. Tino should learn to pay attention. Eeva, for being only two years older, seemed to possess a marginal degree of control over her powers of projective empathy. Tino at current had none, his powers just raging passively without his control. Maybe he'd invite the male Vainamoinen to practice some more. After all, it did seem that control came easier to the wise-"women" of the family. His inability to accept that powerful anima within him was his roadblock. Find comfort in his masculinity and his powers would probably be easier to command.

Meanwhile said male Vainamoinen warlock smiled over at his darling Bear. "Wife Hubby now? Are you trying to flatter me?" He grinned, it was working after all. He pulled the basket over to his hubby and stripped away the last of his clothes in order to park himself on the other side of his darling. "So, this morning was incredible. Rough, but incredible. We're going to be so sore and it's going to be so good are we even going to be able to have sex tonight?" He questioned, turning to face away from Berwald, but so that he could rest his back against the Swede's mountain of shoulder and smile deeply at the feel of the moisture on the taller's body sliding down his own back and rubbing into his skin. "It'd be so sad if I couldn't be a little ornery with my troll to celebrate how manly we'd been. Maybe if we're too sore to do everything we could still do a little bit. Like with our hands or the mouth-thing." He never called it a blow-job or sucking-off, despite how vulgar he could be he just thought those were terms too crude for what it was that they did. He didn't like calling their intimacy by crude things. It was love, not just fucking, after all.

Berwald chuckled at Tino's inability to call it a blow job or even fellatio which, too Berwald, did sound lore like and Italian ice cream than a lewd act with a lover.

"Tino, if our eyes can still be open after Dinner I will be surprised. I think after Marathon sex yesterday and me lugging the heaviest part of those stinking piles of dead oinker about three miles even your Troll has his limits. I'm afraid cuddling with you without snoring three seconds into said cuddle might be all I'm capable of tonight Alskling." Berwald said rolling a bit so Tino could stretch out with him on the bench if he wanted to.

"I overdid it a bit today. My leg is killing me, I put a little too much stress on the injury, from THAT time, today. I need to do more leg lifts when we get home, I'm going to be limping tonight without pain killers. I've turned soft. I need to start running again in the morning before everyone is up again or something. I feel like a pussy out of shape." Berwald added or rather grunted as he shifted position to give Tino more room, or thought he was giving Tino more room, his glasses were with his clothes and unlike a bat, he did not have a sonar to detect anything in the daylight, let alone a dark steamy sauna that floated and tipped and swayed on the water every time they moved.

"How's Eduard? He got a few nicks there. That bastard I wrestled with caught my shin a little, I washed it off, I hope it's not to bad. I think it's just superficial."

""Are you sure you're okay with doing this, E?" Eduard looked up at Eeva who stood next to him threading the needle. He had no doubts that she would do a more than adequate job and wouldn't hurt him if she could help it, but he still felt compelled to give her the chance to back out if she didn't want to do it. Hell, if it weren't for wanting the wound to heal correctly, Eduard himself would be avoiding the whole situation. There was no denying that getting stitched up with no numbing agent was going to hurt like a crystalline stem through the head.

The moment Eeva gave him that stern, maternal look though, Eduard knew that there was no getting out of things now. Taking a deep breath, Eduard sought out Gilbert's hand and held onto it tightly, taking comfort in the warmth he could feel from it. "Might we go have a bit of a nap after this, Gil?" The blond asked. "This has been an exhausting day and I didn't even work as hard as some of you."

When Eduard's hand took hold of his own, Gilbert allowed their fingers to lock and rested them in his lap. He had never been much of a hand-holder in his life, but with Eduard it was different. While his own were slightly calloused from years of sports and hitting the gym, Eduard's were soft, slender, nimble, and altogether perfect. They could build intricate robots and machines that completely baffled the fuck out of him just as easily as they could bring him to a toe-curling climax. Gilbert held on and tried not to let that last thought snowball too much in his mind. "Ja. We can do that. I'm pretty fucking tired, myself." He answered just as Eeva prepared to perform her florence nightingale- like duties.

"I'm okay with it because it needs to be done." She nodded. "Who's the one studying to be a doctor here?" She winked. Albeit, she was going to specialize in reproductive health, but whatever, she was the med student. "You hold his hand tight and if his jaw flinches I say you take your leather belt and let him chomp on it." She directed Gilbert. She knew not to give this order to Eduard, because he would soldier on through it, but at a request from Gilbert how could the brainiac say no? "Alright, here I go." She said, starting in, poking the needle into the flesh of Eduard's arm, feeling the skin give way and the thin needle pierce through, dragging the silk behind it. Eeva shut off her empathy, her expression serious but unphased. She couldn't afford to be fretting over causing Eduard some pain until she'd finished the work set out for her. Another puncture, another stitch.

"Don't run too hard on it if you're going to start working it again." Tino warned. "You already overdid it today, let it rest and then go back to exerting it. Muscles strengthen at rest. And your shin does look a little battered, but it doesn't look like it bled that much. We'll keep it clean, have Siguard put some antiseptic salve on it and just keep an eye on it for now, and as for Eduard he does need stitches. I think he said something about getting Eeva's sewing and putting himself back together but if I know my cousin she's probably demanded that she take that duty on herself. There's no way someone is allowed to be hurt around her."

"Eeva is sewing it up? Titi, there's a medic here! I said so back on the trail. Not everything is that rustic for insurance purposes. Javlar!" Berwald said standing up concerned, marching out of the sauna, naked as a jaybird and blind as a bat to holler and shout.

"EEVA!!!!! STOP SEWING! Get the MEDIC to look at it!" Berwald announced at the top of his lungs trying not to flop into the water like a fish blind as he was and trying to stop his friends from being stupid. He'd mentioned the medic out in the forest, apparently Eduard and the others were stuck in "larper mode" and hadn't remembered him mentioning it. Sewing kit thread would just infect Eduard's wound more. They were just playing dark ages, it wasn't REALLY dark ages. There was a doctor on staff and a sanitary medical hut near the "office" hut.

At the first poke of the needle, Eduard squeezed Gilbert's hand tightly and allowed a quick intake of breath. Aside from these initial reactions, the genius tried his best to maintain a stony-faced sort of calm. Each stitch and tug of the thread seemed to stretch out for an eternity, but feeling Gilbert's hand occasionally give his own a reassuring squeeze bought Eduard back to himself and helped him to soldier through. He didn't want to open his mouth to say anything, lest a less than manly sound make its way out. He felt he had gained more than a few man points so far in the day by not only going hunting and making the kill, but also enduring the current procedure, and he didn't want to ruin that with a pained squeak...especially in front of his boyfriend.

Berwald's urgent bellowing made it to the group's ears just as Eeva was fastening off her nicely done handiwork. It was actually what finally snapped Eduard out of his "happy place of science" trance. He shook his head, his blond hair scattering loosely around him, and turned a little red about the cheeks when he looked down at where he held Gilbert's hand and noticed the albino's skin actually had colour to it from being held in a vice-like grip. "M-mul on kahju..." He blushed and muttered a quiet sorry before flexing his other arm to test how it felt. It was too late to get the camp medic to do the stitching at this stage, but he would at least make a quick trip over to the hut later on before he and Gil headed to their own hut for a sleep and some alone time. "Aitäh, Eeva. It wasn't quite as bad as I was expecting. It would have been considerably worse had I actually tried to do it myself."

"Birdie..." Gilbert allowed himself a bit of a chuckle. "You don't have to try and man-up to that level of badassery all the time, you know. It was pretty awesome, but still. Let's go sleep all this off, ja?"

"Jaa, Gil. I could definitely go for a rest or something else equally relaxing. Although, I can hear Berwald shouting at us from the sauna, and he does make a good point. I should probably go find out where this apparent camp medic is and have them take a look at things before too long."

Eeva puffed a bit with her hands on her hips once she was finished. "There's a nearby medic?" She glowered. She'd not been made aware of this fact and had been assuming herself the only semi-qualified medical individual within three miles of camp, now that she thought about it, it would be only logical for the park to do that, but it just hadn't crossed her mind before. "Why didn't you tell me there was a medic? Berwald has to be having a coronary, he doesn't know that I have any emergency training." She grumbled, putting away her supplies. "But he is right, that will hold you together until you see the medic and he can grade my handiwork. I've not put stitches in a person in a real person in while, last stitches I put in a real person was in my dad's hand last summer, so they may not be fit to last like an experienced medic's stitches. I'm not really a doctor yet, certainly not a trauma doctor. But before you go to the medic with Eduard, Gilbert, I want you to go run and tell Berwald that everything is okay for now, I do actually know what I'm doing, but Eeva is DEMANDING Eduard the Dumb-Who-Doesn't-Tell-Me-Pertinent-Things go to the medic now that she knows there IS one within three miles of camp. If that bear comes gunning for me I will turn around and have your pasty hide." She warned. Berwald had a point. Granted, in his mind she was an amateur seamstress at best, she doubted Tino had ever told him that she'd taken courses, every summer, in emergency-care. Eeva's grandmother and both her parents (who worked in the medical field, with Salli as a retired LPN and Eeva's mother an RN) had encouraged her to be dragged by Salli to these classes. She had certificates to the effect that she had re-certified every year since she was 16. Her father was an Emergency Medical Tech and had been sorely disappointed when his daughter had stated that she would rather go into the field of reproductive health than finish her own certification and work with him in the Ambulance Corp. She had no interest in that field. She wanted to help make life, not be first on the scene and have to live with the pain of not being able to save everyone. She didn't enjoy stitching people up. In fact, now that Eduard was done and the urgency of the situation dealt with she could be comfortably nauseous about the entire ordeal. 'I just sewed Eduard's arm up.' She gagged at the thought. No, she was not meant to be an Emergency First Responder and she planned on being slightly resentful that Eduard was going to do it himself sooner than ask the Medic, putting her in the position where she had to right the wrong so it could be semi-accomplished right.

---

Tino sat in the sauna listening to Berwald bellow. "I'm sure they heard you Bear. But don't worry TOO much, only the right amount. Eeva has medical training and she keeps her first aid supplies in her sewing bag, but I do think we neglected to tell her there was a medic... now that I think about it... because I bet anything that the medical office would have had emergency feminine products and if she'd known about it she probably wouldn't have been holed up in the outhouse all morning the other day until Gilbert ran to town. Shit. She's gonna be pissed when she finds out that someone else could have done those stitches." He winced, getting up and looking for his pants. "You want me to go check and see if everything's alright?"

"Absolutely not. I'm sure they heard me and I'm out on a limb and need a little assistance Ti. Um. I seem to be naked outside and can't find the door back inside." Berwald chuckled to himself feeling around for the door frame on the teetering on-lake Sauna.

"I think I need a bit of rescuing here Alskling. Naked Viking in distress!"

"I was unaware that we had a medic on site until just now, myself. The task, however, was performed correctly and with far more than adequate skill and proper precautions. I see no difference between the job you just did and the job this medic guy would have done, except he would have antiseptic liquid and thread with a brand name on it. You did well, E." Eduard assured both his friend and himself calmly. He tended to get a little more clinical when trying to comfort somebody because he frankly was a little out of practice with such things. With Tino it was easy. He just had to let himself be hugged and everything was golden. With Gilbert? Beer, wurst, cheese, cute things, or sex...he was far too easy to figure out. But others though...he still had some work to do.

Gilbert was, thankfully, more direct and action oriented in a lot of things than Eduard and when not distracted by "molesting the Eesti" was great at keeping the genius from over-analyzing and discussing things. "Look, Birdie. Who gives a shit, ja? There's nothing to do for it now that it's already done. We can get the guy to check it out, but you guys aren't stupid or anything. Let's just get it over with so we can sleep off all that scheiße from the hunt before it's time for eats."
