Ah, two hours of goodness. No more Patrick whining. Yay! I do feel bad for Susan; she had the right attitude -- when she wasn't sniping at her son, that is.
This will cleanse my mind after the horrible, craptastic, bombastic, awefulness CBS foists on the viewers of NCIS. Poor, poor Simon. Seriously, never watch that show -- watch The Amazing Race instead.
La Martina. World famous, apparently.
3am. Rob and Amber.
Johannesburg. $217. No palindrome.
3:38am. Greg and Brian.
Amber looks tired/devastated. Girl is not used to sleeping so little.
5:49am. Uchenna and Joyce. Aw, matching yellow outfits.
6:05am. Ron and Kelly.
6:11am. Lynn and Alex.
Oh, checking bags, no good. They should have known, though
9:20am. Ray and Deana.
"It's not me." Don't like it in the back, eh, Ray. Don't tell Lynn and Alex. Yes, I'm in third grade.
9:35am. Gretchen and Meredith.
"That's so mean." So true, Deana. I don't think she likes Ray's competitiveness.
I hope they make it, just to spite Ray.
How did they get First Class? Man, that's crazy.
Fast Forward. 26 miles. To Orlando Cooling Station, in
Soweto. Doesn't seem that hard.
Detour: Tunnels or Tribes.
50 miles to caves. Rappell to find clue.
40 miles to
Lesedi Cultural Village. Deliever items to Tribal Chief.
"Chickens and camels and whatever." Shut up, Lynn.
Man, poor Uchenna and Joyce. Major suckage.
Tunnels seems the fastest. I recall Ray and Deana at the Cooling Station, so I'm guessing Rob and Amber will have to go back and try the Detour.
Getting a map. Good idea. Looks like it's not helping.
Well, Rob and Amber chose to wait.
Wild Cave Adventures.
Okay, the cave seems more difficult. Searching through caves seems pretty difficult/long. These tasks don't seem that well chosen. The cultural village is certainly unique, but the task isn't. The caves don't seem uniquely South African -- unless they had to find the
Taung Child or something.
I'm sure the forums will be abuzz with talks of Amber not making a decision.
Lynn and Alex are being intelligent about the task.
Somehow I don't think Amber and Rob are going to be that far behind.
Back to
Soweto. Baragwanath Market. Apparently, baragwanath is from "bara" meaning "bread" and "gwanath" meaning "wheat" in Welsh. Bizarre. The market is just outside the hospital.
"Goodbye, cruel World." Ah, the irony of the editors.
Crap, Ray and Deana are in 1st. I don't mind that Deana has a car, but it's not okay for Ray.
Rob is similarly clever. Amber definitely seems to be following Rob's lead.
"Pick up some deodorant; we're running low!" Hee!
How did they miss that the clue is in the cave? Meredith has the right attitude, though.
Wow, it didn't look like she had a rope or anything. Ouch.
Perhaps a concussion. I do admire her perseverance and grit. She's thinking about the race and keeping her sense of humor. She earns some respect from me.
Orlando Children's Home. Aw, they're giving the things to the kids. I like it.
Ah, the
rand.
So, Alex is almost done when Amber starts shopping.
Oh, navigation. I like it.
Those kids are loving it.
Nelson Mandela's home. Much better than the cell where he was imprisoned.
Ngakane Road.
Looks like Rob and Amber will be 5th.
Ah, a Survivor Fern. Survivor seems to be a hit in South Africa.
I like that Rob took a few kicks with the kids.
Ah, Uchenna and Joyce at the Children's Home. Perhaps they'll adopt from South Africa.
Also, Rob learned Fern's name. Good for him.
"Are you shi-erious?!" Hee!
NEL. Still a cash-stripping.
That's new. They lose everything. Ouch. I think I like this even less. I think I'd prefer them getting stripped of their belongings instead of their cash. Did they think it was too easy before? It's true, it didn't seem to affect too many teams, but that seems like a reason to change the penalty, not add more to it.
Hour 2.
10:41pm. Ray and Deana.
Feed the lions. Lion Nature Reserve.
12:39am. Ron and Kelly. Best condition? Really?
1:03am. Brian and Greg. Hee. They're funny.
1:24am. Lynn and Alex.
1:33am. Rob and Amber.
8am vs. 9am.
2:20am. Uchenna and Joyce.
Cradle of Humankind.
3:51am. Gretchen and Meredith. $351 not with them.
Her head seems much better. Okay, a little better.
Wow, the sun came up early.
Good for Uchenna and Joyce. That's classy.
Botswana. 440 miles to Giant Aardvark.
Ray and Deana in 3rd. Yay!
Phil is driving? Ha!
Lynn and Alex are again stuck with Rob and Amber (probably). Hee.
Unless they miss the flight. It would be kind of sad if they get Philiminated -- they seem to be less obsessive about Rob and Amber.
9pm train.
Okay, shut up, Lynn. Sure, Rob could have been a little more aggressive.
Francistown.
Very North by Northwest.
Okay, the spear thing seems hard.
How many Roadblocks has Rob done? He seems to have done a lot.
Wow, they suck with spears. Of course, it looks hard.
Yoda. Hee.
Xau Xarra.
Ron does have a point with the humvee driving.
You tell him Deana.
Rob is now last with the spear.
Amber set up their bags -- smart thinking.
Rob seems to be driving pretty well.
Wow. That's some crash. Damn.
Did the other teams miss the flag?
A camera guy is hurt?! Damn.
So, Rob was kind of a dick not to stop.
I like this task. It's unique and challenging.
Crushing grain is difficult. I really works the triceps.
So, they will get a back-up car. That answers that question.
Makgadikgadi Wow, Ray will not shut up.
What happened to Deana's lip? Is it chapping? I do imagine the heat, aridity, and dehydration could do a number on the lips. Way to go, Ray. At least Deana confronts him a bit.
I like that Ray was in first place the last leg and is now competing with the "old folks" for the bottom rungs.
Shut UP, Ray!
Go Gretchen and Meredith!
A race to the finish. Go brothers!
Yay!
Okay, so Deana wants to keep the relationship? Dude, listen to Ray: end it now! Seriously, Ray is way too intense and doesn't listen to you. What will they say on the Early Show? Will I watch? No.
Ah, a clip show. Go Uchenna! More backflips!
