Not a bad weekends gaming really.

Well, I went to Exeter Sunday(I only got there half an hour late, which Meestor Beef declared to be "on time for Mat"). paulatpingu and I bought the box, we split the cards between the players, and organised the first single elim Vs tournament. 14 players. That's not bad considering Paul only started pushing the game a few weeks ago and it's not even term time yet; with a bit of effort we'll ahve a decent sized playgroup, and with some practise we'll actually be good at the game.

Advantage of UDE's current promotion; for each draft tournament run of 8 or more players, get a free booster per player. So run them single elimination, you get more tournaments, so we get more boosters. In fact, everyone got loads of free cards, everyone happy. Chris Dyer won, of course; anyone surprised by this? OTOH, I got into the final of one of the tournaments. That's not bad as I've only just started and barely know the cards.

Played Robo Rally and a short game of Goa afterwards, Robo Rally was silly; Steve drove himself into a pit, then later on Beef pushed me into him while he was next to a pit, then I pushed Beef in after him. Yay; I won a game. I love Robo Rally, very very silly; an awesome end of evening but not time to go home yet filler game.

Work was OK today, the owner/company founder is visiting tomorrow, so the MD dropped a few hints that I really ought to tidy my desk. Um, he sort of had a point; paperwork that's been there since June? Oops.

This evening, I went to Rob's; Colin the prolific painter has recently painted up a big pile of medieval 15mm figures; I love miniature gaming but can't be arsed to paint stuff; being friends with Colin negates the need. We tried Nathan's Tactica rules, by the same bloke that designed Spearhead (good), Crossfire (awesome) and Armati (not bad). Ah well, everyone is allowed one complete failure, right? So, we need to find an new rules set for medieval gaming, Colin's figures look great and I kicked in the French (a unit of Nathan's knights ran away from my archers after I won a meleé - you see why the rules suck?). Anyone suggesting Warhammer gets shot, clear?

Overall, I'm in a good mood; not sure about Deitmar's visit tomorrow; he's the owner of FTi Touristik, the parent company of LAL group, which owns TLC. Except for the small point that his first company was TLC, everything else he built on top. Be good to meet him I guess.

Anyway; this post brought to you by the LJ email gateway, not that I'm checking out the new functions or anything...
