A handful of people have asked me a handful of a handful of times WHEN WILL YOUR WRITE YOUR RECAP?! And I wasn't even going to, but who am I to deny a handful, as it reminds me of 2 scoops of raisins and boy do I love raisin bran! Yum!
I was contacted by 1 half of the Monte Pittman LisaLisa management team (
curlyfry1273 ) to do a photoshoot for Monte on the Wednesday before the show because he needed some new shots for his website/album/promotion. I was BEYOND honored that Monte and his team thought of me for this shoot, as they really (to my knowledge) had never seen any of my professional work, and this is the first legitimately paid photoshoot of this caliber I've ever done (I've only done headshots here and there before, since primarily I am an event photographer) so it's a HUGE deal for me and another step in the direction I want to take with my career. (swoon! head in the clouds!) FYI this shoot has nothing to do with Adam or the Glam Nation tour, the photos will be used to promote Monte's solo career. I'm not certain when I can release the photos on my end, but you should be seeing them soon on
www.montepittman.com and (fingerscrossed!) included in the album artwork. We really captured some awesome stuff, with a variety of lighting (studio lighting with a backdrop, window lighting, outdoor stuff) I'm SOOOOO jazzed for you guys to see it! Hopefully I can release some of the outtakes too because they are super funny. Unfortunately for me, Monte forgot to tell the tour people to leave his guitars out, so we had NONE OF HIS GUITARS TO WORK WITH!! LUCKILY we managed to score an acoustic to stand in. It was a very fun shoot, we had music playing,
curlyfry1273 and her husband were there being awesome and supportive and giving me great direction and feedback (and a lot of laughs!)
But because of the lack of guitars, he asked me if it was possible to come early the next day (the day of the Tower Theatre show) to do some stuff with HIS guitars, and of course I was insanely psyched about the possibilities! And then... it was raining. Not that I suppose we could've done A TON outside because the place was swarming with fans, but it certainly took that option off the table.
I got to the Tower Theatre an hour before I was supposed to (I was anxious, ok? lol) and I heard they were still doing soundcheck so I had to wait. There were fans all gathered on the opposite side of the street... and no offence to the gathering-fan-groups but it's just not my scene. It just makes me feel weird. It always has, even at other kinds of shows. I don't like to be wrangled like livestock. Ok, tangent. LOL Anyway, I told the people working security that I was there to do a photoshoot and they told me I needed to wait till someone came out and got me, but I couldn't chill by the door (understandable) so I opted to walk down to the end of the block on the corner and drop my shit and hang. I was the only one there. And just my luck!!! A white car pulls up right next to me. I looked in the car briefly and I saw a guy in a hat and sunglasses and I said to myself "that looks like someone that has to do with something" and then I looked away. Someone hand me the understatement of the year award, because seriously. I see two ladies running up from across the street yelling HE'S IN THE CAR HE'S IN THE CAR (which is super classy btw. except not) and so I look back at the car and Adam steps out of the passanger seat. LOL. YEAH. I was like "well then." Cause I was literally standing there by myself. Adam stands up and puts on his backpack, his eyes to the ground, and... basically almost walks right into me. Because he wasn't looking where he was going. HA! He must've saw my feet cause he looks up and I'm like *smile* "hi" and he's like *smiles" "hi, how are you?" And then he walked around me and down the street and into the venue. People spotted him from across the street and started yelling and asking for pics and he just waved at them and smiled and kept walking.
Gotta love the paps!! Here is when he got out of the car:
Here is when he spotted me and smiled! (couldn't they have atleast got my foot in the shot to prove my existence at that moment? geez! ;p )
Let's not even talk about how there are pap pictures of me floating around taken by fans. Because... weird.
Anyway my poor friend Amanda gets to me like FIVE mins too late and misses the whole thing. DOH! But she kept me company and we had fun chats while I waited to be beckoned by the Montster. Also Neil walked by me a bunch of times and ignored my attempts to get his attention to tell Monte I was out there waiting for him. Well, to his credit, he only ignored me the first 3 times. Lucky time number 4 he finally honored me with his attention. Like dude, I don't want your picture, I want to use you as a messanger boy. Don't flatter yourself. KIDDING, LOVE YOU NEIL. KISSES! ;) I was allowed to move closer to the backstage door when it was closer to the time I was supposed to go in, and during that time period, Adam walked by me AGAIN and got onto his tour bus. I was like an Adam magnet that day! Didn't bug him that time, just played it ubercool. I made a mental note of him wearing green nail polish as I watched him struggle with the tour bus door. He is lovely. <3
Finally got the alert to wait by the band bus, Monte came out and got swarmed (of course.) Haaa. I waited patiently for him to sign and take pictures with fans. I even took a photo for some people and their camera was set on video mode, and then it wouldn't fire. Which is hilarious because Monte and I were JUST joking the night before about fans that go to take pics and they have massive camera failure. Finally, we were in! I set up my camera and we scoped out the place, finally setting on a cool stairwell at the very top of the backstage area. He grabbed a few guitars and we shot for about 20 mins. These shots are my FAVORITE of everything we did, I'm SO happy in retrospect that he forgot his guitars the day before. ~~everything happens for a reason~~
When we were finished, I gave him my camera bag to store on the bus (this was one of my stipulations for shooting him on thursday... I needed to make sure my camera was stored in a safe place since I would not be permitted to take it into the show and I did not trust it being kept backstage). I met back up with Amanda and we went to score some food and dranks while I waited for MEET & GREET time!! I ordered a turkey sandwich and the waitress charged me extra for lettuce and tomato. If you know me at all, you would know I would pay just about anything to make sure my sandwich is adorned correctly. Delicious! I also got drunk on two glasses of wine, which apparently is the smoothest move one can make before they get to have chats with Adam. (ha!) Also got to meet up for the first time with a bunch of my twitter friends who's LJ names I don't know BUT YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE ALL OF YOU AND I LOVE ALL YOUR FACES!!
6:45 was MEET & GREET time. There was about 20 of us, I'd say. We were escorted into the theatre, given the low down on the rules and then preshyfreshfaced Adam came in and one by one we all got a chance to go up and say hi and have a picture. Standard meet and greet stuff. :) It was way more structured than the AI after-show meet and greet I did last summer, but that was ok! I was happy to get to talk to him again!
I introed the experience by throwing my arms out in a grand gesture of CMERE AND GIVE ME A HUG and he smiled really big and we hugged. (being a wine-o rules!) I told him I had just done a photoshoot with Monte, to establish myself (can you blame me? no you cannot. :p ) and I pointed out my CITIZEN VEIN SHIRT which he loved. Don't ask me to give you exact quotes of what he said because I out talked him like 6000 to 1. I'm naturally a pretty gabby person (ask anyone who met me last week) but wine makes me wayyy gabbier. I pulled out my NIGHT OF THE LIVING GLAMBERTS poster for him to sign and he looked at it and laughed really adorablely, and when I pointed out that the hand in the photo was actually legit in the shot I took he was like "oh really? that's so cool! it's like E.T." <--- haaaaaaa. Yes Adam. ET is a Glambert! It's funny cause it's true. He signed it and then actually signed the other one that I was supposed to GIVE to him but I was too busy telling him about the fact that I snapped that Elvis shot of him to notice he was signing it. He could've been signing my face and I wouldn't have noticed. He thought the Elvis side by side was REALLY cool and I explained to him that I don't always see it, but in that shot, it was SUPER apparent. I told him I took a handful of shots from that set and when I was going through the previews on the back of my camera I stopped at that one and I was like WHOA. He concurred that he doesn't usually see it, but in that shot it was creepy. (if you watched the interview he did before musikfest, that was the general gist of what he said to me) Then I realized that we weren't just having a lunchtime chat by ourselves and we were actually at a Meet and Greet and there were other people waiting for us to take the photo and for me to move on so I was like "Ohh! LET'S TAKE A PHOTO!" (i'm suchhhhhhh a geek) And he's like "ok!" And after that I held out my arms again for BIG HUGS (he's a great hugger). And that was that! I looked down and noticed that I had TWO Night of the Living Glamberts prints signed and I was like "doh!" so I gave one of them to his ~people to give to him. Ha. :) I like him.
Here is the pic:
Here is my silly poster signed:
After the M&G it was show time. Show rocked! Took epic pics! Vidded Monte's solos! Adam and Tommy tongued! Monte went down on his knees and shredded in
lollipopmilitia's FACE. Tommy was wearing black lipstick! And Cam was there! And LP was there! And there were dancers! And there was a picture of a train! /simpsons reference
After the show, my numbero uno priority was making sure I met Monte by the bus so I could get my camera back from him. We rounded the corner to where the buses were and HOLY BALLS it was a MOB scene. My secondary objective was to atleast talk to Tommy for 10 seconds so I could AT THE VERY LEAST say hi and let him know that I was the one that was responsible for his last two twitter avis.
While we were waiting, we chatted a bit with Gerry and Liz from Aliison's band and took some shots!
Well they all came out and the crowd swarmed! I had to literally keep my eye trained on Monte so I didn't LOSE him. Tommy looks up at me and shocks my pants off (jk i was still wearing pants) by being all "hi kara" before I even said anything. Holy balls again! I didn't even realize he knew who I was! Awesome! ... now to convince him to let me do a photoshoot... *plots* He must've hugged me after he said hi, but I don't remember any of this happening. But HA at my face and that I was holding Monte's hand. Picture, you say a thousand words. Most of them are blasphemous rumors!

Then we took some photos!
And then I got to feel like a ROCKSTAR when Monte pulled me onto the bus so I could get my camera! I hadn't realized that people could see through the window of the bus, so I got papped again. HA!! Adam actually came out to sign and I got to watch the whole thing from the passanger seat of the bus. That was an -awesome- experience!! Everyone that was on the bus at the time moved forward to the front to watch the mania.
I am going to start working on my Tower Theatre concert shots today and from what I can recall from scrolling through them, they are my BEST SET YET!! Can't wait to share them with you all!
Musikfest was the next day and I JUST happened to score tickets to it a few days before the show. Musikfest = a madhouse. I was happy we got there early enough so I could chill with my twitter girls and grab some food from the taco stand, YUM!
We also got a little drunk on wine in plastic cups. WOO!!
I practiced what is essentially a standard ritual inbetween sets during a Glam Nation Concert:
I vowed to take no pictures during this show cause it was my last show of the tour, but then I took
45 pictures anyway. :p I didn't shoot the entire time though and Eden and I sung and danced like crazy people. It was his first Glam Nation show and he loved it SO much that he decided to go to another show! YEAH!!!!
After Musikfest, me, Brit, and Eden went to a gay bar and sang WWFM on karaoke. IT WAS AWESOME!! Then we went home, drank more wine, ate grilled cheese and played The Game Of Life. Best times ever!
All in all, an AMAZING weekend with some AMAZING friends!!
Did you read the whole thing? Way to hang in there, ceiling cats! :) <3<3<3
