Right, I plead guilty to being one of those people who bought the book at midnight on the 15th and then finished reading it at dawn, I ought to be ashamed of myself. Oh well. Anyway, now that it's been out for a few days and most of my friends have had a chance to either read it themselves or have it spoiled by some one else...
WTF WAS J.K. THINKING!?!?!?!!!! Seriously, the woman obviously needs a refresher course in human psychology! It's one thing to kill off the characters most important to the sanity of the protagonist but to then state that said protagonist shall NOT give in to the grief and pain and badness but shall remain a tragically heroic but otherwise sane teenager because he has the ability to LOVE is just doesn't make sense. If anything, Harry's 'gift of love' should make him MORE likely to snap after having his protectors murdered in front of him. He would feel the loss deeper and should therefore be sent further over the edge when experiencing that loss. Arrrgh! Besides which, the-character-who-dies died too early. The story would have been beeter off if that particular character hadn't died till the last book, I'm not arguing with the necessity of the death, just the timing. It happened too soon and in a very contrived manner, not to mention the fact that it was exceedingly obvious that the killers were heading in that direction.
I shall continue to rant later. I must prepare to rehearse now.
Blah.
