I really do feel I should try and write regular updates again. Of the type that make you guys feel you actually know what is going on in my life. Because, believe it or not, the break-up isn't the only thing on my mind. So here's some of the news

I had to teach on Old Irish tutorial my last semester in Cork, and it was hell! My dyslexia flared up like it never had when I was just learning it, and this one day, I had to change something back and forth about four times, going "No, wait, this is the genitive...no, wait, this is...no, wait, this is." Go out there and kick ass, because I know you can!
The critical thinking element is also one that is admirable and wonderful in what you're doing; there ought to be more of that in Celtic Studies in general, and more theoretical and pedagogical approaches given, especially to advanced students. It was hard enough getting the Cork first-years to just read the damn stories for class, much less talk about them or about scholarship on them! So, you're to be commended and applauded for doing that as well!
And hey, make-up is fun! I've done a fair bit myself in my time (well, not tons, but still, some memorable drag occasions, in which I looked like a "real" girl and not a drag-queen...though a real tall girl, but so what?), so do enjoy it!
Much luck, love, and many blessings on you!

I totally agree with you that there is too little critical thinking in the field, and in most academic fields! I think it is very important, which it is one of my priorities to teach. I know that not all students will read the material and have it prepared (they are first years, after all...), but if last year is anything to go by, some will, and they will learn a lot.
Yes, wearing make-up is fun, and I am enjoying it. Though it learned today that wearing make-up when it's raining...? Not a good idea! Ah well, we live and learn.
And thanks for the love and blessings :) Same to you!!!
