SPECIAL INTERVIEW ON MAIZU TSUKASA PHOTOBOOK
Yuchi NAKAMARU as Taro KAWAHARA
NAKAMARU Yuichi-kun is working in the various fields such as music and variety TV program as a member of KAT-TUN.
His talent as an actor will appear starting from the role of Kawataro in this 'Sushi Oji!'.
Especially, in the movie version, the emotion of Kawataro is shown deeper that there is a lot to watch!
- The long project 'Sushi Oji!' finally achieved at the terminal, the movie.
"The time flied until now, really.
I feel sentiment when to remember the time when my work in the drama 'Sushi Oji!'.
My surprise and tension at that time were awful!
Well, as a result of my tension, I was almost vomiting."
- By thinking about the co-working with your senior Koichi Domoto, it would make you intense a little or a lot.
"It wasn't a little at all.
I had heard about its confirmation 1 week before I started to work on it, and since then I couldn't sleep well for a week.
Even it appeared in my dream(LAUGH).
In addition, the fact that I could work in the director Yukihiko Tsutsumi's film sounded both grateful and pressured.
As I was given a good role with a communication with Koichi-kun on it, the surprise, happiness, pressure, and intense all overwhelmed me.
Actually, after I joined in the filming, I had no room in my mind.
But even if I was such, I had one decision in my mind.
That was, "once I was given any directions, I should follow it strictly".
I tried to do my best for their requirement and instruction.
Except that, I couldn't do anything at that time."
- Your enthusiasm sounds like as if you remembered when you were a beginner.
"I have very few experiences at the drama. I need not remember myself when being beginner, as I am actually a beginner(LAUGH)."
- How was your work with the director Tsutsumi?
"At the first scene for the drama, I was told "Kawataro-kun, somehow stand with your palm and mouth open".
I couldn't understand what he had told me(LAUGH), but as I had decided to do my best for the instruction, I was standing with my palm and mouth open seriously.
A few days later, when I was eating with Tsutsumi-san, I asked him "what did that act mean?".
Then, "that was Kawataro the KAPPA(*monster living in the river in Japan, which name is usually 'Kawataro'), the pose of kappa".
From that conversation, I vaguely understood director Tsutsumi's way to create his works.
Somehow I tried to do (what I was required).
Later I found the meaning of what I did.
That was same in the movie version.
In the movie, Kawataro showed his competitive spirit against Tsukasa, and when I was filming the scene which Kawataro express his emotion to Tsukasa, I took a break for about 2 seconds by my idea.
Then, Tsutsumi-san told me to have a break for 4 seconds, and I obeyed.
I was given OK, and when I checked the film, it was about my work, but I thought "it is extremely good! I could express the proper atmosphere"(LAUGH)."
- In the movie, Kawataro's dilemma from his competitive spirit against Tsukasa is shown.
"I understand his emotion "someday I will make you reconsider me as a better one".
He acts like a dork, but in fact he is thinking a lot.
That is Kawataro in the movie who express his thought."
- Are there any similarities between Kawataro and you?
"I sometimes become dorky when I am anxious about the atmosphere around me.
From since I had read the screenplay book for the first time, I found the similarity with him, so I could act naturally in both the drama and the movie."
- In the movie, especially which scene was impressive?
"The scene which I was almost vomiting again from my tension was, that....
As I shouldn't spoil the story, I just tell you that was the scene of '**' at the rice field, I was fairly throwing myself into that scene completely.
When I checked the film, even I thought "I look ugly"(LAUGH).
I must have expressed on my look as much.
I was glad as Kawataro's personality was shown in the movie version."
- Tell us your episode at the filming in New york.
"One day, after filming, I bought my midnight snack at the fast food shop with Koichi-kun.
Our meals were put in the same bag.
When we divided them at the lobby, I dropped the nuggets on the floor, and they littered.
"Oh my god, it's my end", I thought."
- Are you still scared of Koichi-kun so much?
"I am the one whose first work at the concert was for Kinki Kids as a back dancer.
I can't throw away my tension easily.
Then, Koichi-kun kindly told me that "that's okay. Well, let's share another nuggets with us".
As it looks weird to open (the package of the nuggets to divide) at the lobby, he invited me to his room.
I WENT INTO KOICHI-KUN'S ROOM!!"
- It must be really special for Nakamaru-kun...(LAUGH)
"THAT IS SPECIAL!
Koichi-kun's room was put in order extremely beautifully indeed.
Wow~, I was somehow happy because of the happening to drop the nugget, I was invited into my senior whom I admire.
I'm sorry, am I saying something perverted!?"
- I understand what a divine senior Koichi-kun is for you.
"He is a special senior for me for ever, indeed.
Maybe Koichi-kun's fans will understand my feeling.
To tell my personal episode, on my break, I actually went to eat at the sushi restaurant in New York.
You may know that it is said that those in the sushi restaurant in New York are delicious.
However, the restaurant which I accidentally visited was awful.
They gave me weird sushis.
For example, a sushi of not a fish but mango!
The weird sushi restaurants in this movie may not just fictions.
This movie was in some parts a non-fiction(LAUGH).
I couldn't enjoy its taste, but I could learn from it."
- What was your impression after watching the finished film?
"While taking, I thought it would become enjoyable, but the fun was more than my conjecture.
When I watched its preview, I laughed with a voice.
For example I laughed the most for the computer graphics added later.
The expression of their impression when they ate the too delicious sushi.
That was awful.
That expression was far from the reality, but the actors were serious, and the computer graphics to add more effect worked well, so I laughed a lot."
- What is 'Sushi Oji!' for you?
"I was tensed, but that was a work which supported my emotion.
I was given a time which contained a lot, which will be good for me.
This is such a film which I want you to watch not just one time but a lot.
As it contains a lot you won't watch all just by watching one time."
- Give your message to your admiration Koichi-kun.
"I was happy as you were displaying the poster of 'Sushi Oji! the movie' at your dressing room in the Imperial Theatre(* where Koichi works for his stageplay 'SHOCK').
Thank you for everything, indeed.
If you want me for anything, feel free to all me anytime!"
