most of my music-listening in the 00's was done via earphones (discman, then mp3 players), or blasting speakers by myself in my room. here's how i was otherwise anti-anti-social. in random order:
1. went to clubs i don't remember anymore to see acts i don't remember anymore
2. file-shared (illegally downloaded and seeded music)
3. skipped on the eraserheads reunion because keks and danice were feeling negative vibes that evening
4. with keks and danice (and barny), trooped to the eheads reunion redux and felt nothing but positive vibes
5. chose to pay $2 through the net for radiohead's in rainbows
6. saw u23d on imax
7. saw shine a light on imax with dad and listened to him wax nostalgic on how much he dug the rolling stones in the 60's
8. made a music video or two
9. wrote music video reviews (and political campaign jingle reviews) for musicmanila.com (r.i.p.)
10. contributed feature articles for pulp magazine
10a. followed around a few bands so i could write about them
11. saw billy elliott and avenue q in west end with mom
12. played guitar hero and rockband with friends
13. videoke'd and magic sing'd with friends and relatives and everybody
14. bought tickets to oasis then asked for refund
15. saw hanson live in manila with hanson "groupies"
16. drove my brother nuts by repeatedly singing in the shower back when we still lived together (to which he retaliated by secretly recording my version of spoon's "the way we get by" with his celphone, which i found embarassing so i never sang that song again)
17. tripped on "bad romance" on endless repeat on long drives with friends
18. religiously followed american idol with my ex
19. religiously followed rockstar supernova with my brother
20. wrote lyrics to a faux vintage song for the movie tuhog (music by jay durias)
21. worked on a sex bomb girls movie
22. wrote screenplay for a teen movie musical
23. made a whole bunch of actors "exercise" to peter wolf's "the magic position" for a grocery scene in a movie
24. tried to learn how to do coke's "ito ang beat sabay-sabay"
25. had a running text conversation with jessica using nothing but elvis costello lyrics
26. shared the love for many popular hits
27. made movies with music i like, starting with thesis film in 2000, music by mark villena and isha
28. usually danced whenever people around me were also dancing
29. fete de la musique
30. stood up for the national anthem whenever it's played, such as before the last full show in a movie theater
31. crushed on musicians
32. saw a church chorale competition
33. saw a few stage musicals
34. stopped for a few seconds of appreciation for musicians playing in public places, such as a traditional chinese instrument player in a subway, a folksy guy on the street, or pianists in malls
35. read music magazines, websites and blogs
36. made friends with guy in news stand that sells back issues with cd samplers
37. phoned in for a radio contest because it was about r.e.m., got robbed of the big prize (an r.e.m. t-shirt), settled for blah cd
38. was appropriately shocked when michael jackson died
39. bought cd's in record stores
40. gave and received cd's or music dvd's as gifts
41. made music-related lists like everybody else
