Death to Automation!
So, while attempting to learn the status of my teacher certification application I've discovered that the State Education Department is definitely the most evil bureaucracy I have encountered.
They lack any good call waiting as it's taken me days to finally break past the busy signals and get the call in.
Also, instead of the usual nice "press 1, 2 or 3) stuff right away I had to listen to a three minute rant about the website. When I finally got to the "to speak to a representative, press 3" I got another rant about the website, followed by "all operators are currently busy, press 1 or this call will be disconnected". I press one, and I return to where I was earlier...a bloody busy signal!
I just want to be sure they've received the damn thing. Bad enough they take "14 - 18" weeks to process a fucking application which I had to pay a "processing" free for.
And for the record, every other job that requires state certification (ie: accounting) has another number to call, and I did by accident assuming "oh, teachers would be under here" it seemed nice and organized. Apparently teaching gets shoved off into it's own half-assed world.
