...to display just how unscrupulous people can take advantage of people who don't approach the "supernatural" with enough skepticism.

Go to YouTube. Search for:

Derren Brown The So Called Messiah

You should find 8 segments about 6 to 7 minutes each. He explains at the very start that he is coming to America to assume five false identities and to use those identities to approach a variety of groups, psychics, Christians, Alien abuductee groups, etc, and to use his skills to present himself as one of them and to demonstrate unusual or supernatural talents. He also says right up front that the moment anybody asks him if it's a trick or shows any real level of skepticism that he'll fess up right there.

He says again and again that he isn't talking about the beliefs themselves, but the reality of easily people start to "believe" when presented with a convincing display.

Derren Brown is one of the best. But, as he points out, if he can do it then people far less honest than he can do it to and we should all be ready to question and challenge and think.
