In-Game Character Information
Name: Jacen Solo
Series: Star Wars (EU)
Age: 18

Personality:  The eldest Solo boy is.... complicated.  DON'T YOU GIVE ME THAT 'STOP USING PERSONALITY CLICHES ON YOUR APP' stare.  He really is.  Which is a combination of lack of consistency in canon (hey, you try having a consistently developed personality through 100+ works by varying authors) and his own... really messed up life.

Jacen was always the guy living five steps in the future, so ready for the next big thing that he rushed through the present to get to it at lightspeed.  While his sister was able to plan things out and strategize, Jacen was more prone to react.

This tendency towards cocky overeagerness, however, has cooled somewhat with experience, and now he tends to overcompensate wildly in the opposite direction sometimes.  He often internalizes, and spends a lot of his time philosophizing - particularly on the nature of the Force itself, and on violence, war, and peace and the Jedi's role in all those things.   He spends a lot of time with his Deep Thoughts, possibly because he doesn't have a Girlfriend.

Jacen and his siblings had a lot of expectations thrust on them at birth, as the children of famous war heroes.  Not to mention that whole Darth Grandpa/Skywalker lineage thing.  Considering all the pressure put on him to grow up and be a hero, or the fear people had of him turning into Darth Vader 2.0, he's handled the situation generally pretty gracefully.  Probably because even the Big Legendary People in his family are... all pretty solidly grounded.

In his youth, Jacen showed a lot of symptoms of basically having... ADHD.  Look, I'm not kidding.  8|    He had a really difficult time focusing, and tended towards being disorganized and scatterbrained.  His head was often off in the clouds thinking about his creature collections, or he would burst out with inappropriately timed jokes in perilous situations.  Unlike his sister Jaina who could toil for hours on one machine, he was always up and moving and preferred being active or exploring.  Despite outer appearances, he does possess a deeply thoughtful and intelligent nature, and as his Jedi focus matured, it came to help him with these aspects of his personality.

He's also Han Solo's son, and no amount of Jedi reserve will ever drain that cocky Solo nature entirely.  He's almost always ready with a smile and an attitude - or at least was until the whole little-brother-dying thing which has left him a little grimmer.  8(   Still, he tends to be pretty unwaveringly optimistic, almost to the point of naivete, and that's one of the things that drives his philosophical quest to understand the Force: the belief that he can learn something new about it that no one else has ever been able to grasp.  This probably sounds like a little arrogant too.  Well, guess what?

It is.

Some of this probably comes from the fact that until recently, his family was pretty much... an untouchable force of nature that influenced the galaxy on a grand scale.  I mean, his dad was freaking Han Solo, his mother was a prominent politician, his uncle was the most powerful Jedi Master known, et cetera et cetera.  So he inherited a little bit of that aura of untouchability just from his upbringing.

He also has an ingrained sense of Duty before Self, because his parents spent so much of his childhood... putting their galactic service in front of their own family.  So he sees that as the Right Thing to Do, but at the same time, there's also an underlying current of some bitterness in their self-sacrifice.  Hardly seeing his parents wasn't really the ideal childhood.

While Jaina took after their father and his mechanical aptitude and piloting skills, Jacen has a lot more in common with his mother, and has a tighter bond to her.  There's something of a block between him and his Dad, that has something to do with Jacen's interest in and experiences with the Force, which remain something entirely untouchable to Han.

His connection to his twin sister Jaina has also been a huge influence on his life, because despite being a big celebrity from the day he was born, he's never really had to deal with feeling entirely isolated and alone.  Jaina's always been there.  Their personalities balance each other out in a lot of ways, so they've always sort of been the ballast to keep each other safe and sane.   He's also incredibly overprotective of her where men are involved gtfo kyp & jag.

Jacen makes an interesting comment to Jaina about how 'all he knows how to be is a Jedi', which is pretty definitive to his character as well.  His desire to be a Jedi Master has shaped the entire course of his life, and he's never expressed any interest in... not doing it.  A lot of who Jacen simply is is bound up in the Jedi ideal, which is one reason he's so personally tied to the question of what the Jedi's true role in the galaxy is.

It's also worth mentioning that when it comes to romance, Jacen is basically made of canned fail.  His amazing pick up lines include: bad jokes involving banthas, 'hey bb, you didn't need that arm I just chopped off, did you?', and 'talk xenobiology to me'.
Background:  Jacen Solo and his twin sister Jaina are the eldest (and surviving) children of famous wizarding legends Han and Leia Solo.  From birth, they've had a great deal of expectations thrust upon them, and found themselves embroiled in a world of heavy politics, danger, and adherence to the ideals of the Jedi Order, refounded by their uncle Luke.  Their mother served on the International Confederation of Wizards, while their father battled anti-muggle sentiments as he attempted to continue lending assistance to the wizarding community in whatever capacity he could, supporting his wife.  Their busy lives kept them often separated from the children, and Jacen, Jaina, and their younger brother Anakin found themselves victimized on multiple occasions, by groups or individuals seeking ways to get at the older Solos.  In reality, the children were raised more by their governess, Winter, then by their parents, and had an unusual relationship with Han and Leia as a result.  While glad to see them always, and anxious to please them, the children developed a lot more self-reliance than most others, and also came to be incredibly close to one another.

Eventually, the children all went to the Jedi praxeum in South America, to train under their Uncle Luke, and learn about the Jedi code, while honing their unique abilities to tap into the Force.  While there, Jacen became close friends with a couple other students, most notably Tenel Ka Djo and Lowbacca.  Along with his sister Jaina, they had all sorts of adventures, getting into more collective trouble than any of the other students, but also proving their bravery and loyalty through their experiences.  When a threat loomed that convinced Luke he might need their assistance, he asked the four of them to begin constructing their lightsabers.  Jacen used a unique diamond in his that he had intended as a gift to his mother - which she had refused, telling him to keep for a special purpose.  Upon construction of the lightsword, the four were taken to test them out, and Jacen was eager to impress Tenel Ka and show his abilities.  His overeagerness, coupled with the faulty design of her saber, ended in tragedy.  The two deadlocked their sabers, and the pressure shorted out Tenel Ka's.  When the blade disappeared, Jacen's sliced on through - and sliced her arm clear off above the elbow.

Jacen's guilt over the incident had a strong and lasting effect on him, especially coupled with the fledgling feelings he had for the girl.  The two of them, however, both admitted to feeling as if the incident was their fault, and he strongly admired the way she proudly adapted to her circumstances and refused to have the arm healed.

Only last year, the Solo family was nearly rent apart when long time family friend Chewbacca died, sending Han into a spiral of depression.  Their father placed a lot of the blame for the incident on Jacen's younger brother, Anakin, and parted ways with the family for so long that his marriage to Leia suffered almost to the point of divorce.  They had only just begun to mend when things turned even darker.  A group of pureblooded wizards attacked some muggles, and Jacen, Jaina, Anakin, Zekk, and Tenel Ka all attempted to stop them.   Jacen and Jaina watched as their younger brother attacked them head-on and was killed.  Jacen himself attempted to save him, and found himself beaten to the brink of almost dying himself.  Jaina's response to the situation was frightening, as she unleashed dark magic upon the wizards, and in the end, it was Jacen who had to drag her away.

Jaina's quest for vengeance unsettled Jacen to an incredible degree, as he felt increasingly alienated from his own twin, who had been the ballast for so much in his life.  He'd already begun to wrestle with a lot of the philosophical implications of both using the Force and offensive magic, and as she tore away from them all and he found himself unable to save her, he threw his focus back into achieving Jedi Knighthood.   However, he still felt as if he were searching for something he was unable to find, and so after much deliberation, he made the choice to leave both Hogwarts, and his family, in order to go attempt to seek a greater understanding of the Force, and his own nature.

For months now, Jacen's been off on his own, seeking out other users of the Force, and also investigating independent sects of wizards who tie philosophy into their beliefs on magic.  He spent a great deal of time off in some Tibetan mountains with some Force-using-Buddhist-wizard-monk types.  Eventually, after a great deal of reflection and meditation, he came to realize that some of his greatest strengths lay in his friends and family - and so he has decided to return to them, and finish his Hogwarts education, finally ready to accept the Jedi Knighthood awaiting him after his graduation.

Blood: Half-blood.

Preferred House: Ravenclaw.
Why you think they belong in this house? If Jacen could, he would probably invest in real estate... inside his own head.  He's always trapped up in his own thoughts, and with age and experience, he only becomes more philosophical.  He's also a really intelligent guy, despite his... really terrible jokes.  :3  At least he's a natural at coming up with puns.  Ravenclaws do love the word play.  They're all Jason Mraz.

School Year:  7th.

Quidditch Position: Nup.
Would you like the character to possibly get a higher position? Nup.

The worst part was reaching out to something that had always been there - and finding it retracting from him.  It was so hard, he reflected through gritted teeth, his eyes sliding over to his sister beside him, not to blame himself for this distance between them.  In reality, she was sitting only a foot away, but it felt a thousand miles.  A galaxy apart.

He wondered if she blamed him, for any of what had happened back there.

No, he reminded himself, for the thousandth time, it's her own guilt, over what happened with her. Over...

It still chilled him to the bone, to consider what had almost become of his sister in the wake of their brother's death. He'd be lying if he said he'd never been forced into envisioning what would happen if they ended up on opposite sides. If they hadn't been able to reach her, bring her back.

It still smarted that he hadn't been able to be a part of what did bring her back, eventually. He knew that when he was lost, he inevitably found so much of his personal sense of balance in the link he shared with Jaina.

What did it mean if she didn't feel the same way?

Part of him ached to lay a hand on her shoulder, at least make some physical contact, even if she was shutting him out emotionally.

But if it was space she needed, then he'd respect it.  For now.

[And now I'm stealing some from Nym AND Fei. 8|]

Character name: Jacen Solo

Canon Ability/Power: The Force.

Why do you want to bring this into the game? /How is it important to your character?
Remember what I said up there about how Jacen doesn't know how to be anything but a Jedi?  And how he spends all his freaking time thinking about the Force?

Yeahhhh it's pretty much.... his whole life.  8|

What does it do? / How does it work?
COMPLICATED. The Force, in principle, is an all controlling, omniscent....force that flows through all living things in the galaxy. Beings that are attuned to the Force are called Force Sensitives, and their innate abilities to channel the Force usually manifests in a variety of powers, from time travel to throwing lightning bolts. Wookieepedia does a better job of explaining what the Force can do better than I ever could http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Force_powers

How will this be translated to Hogwarts?
Basically, being force-sensitive will translate over to having unusually high potential for wandless magic without training. So instead of using a specific spell, an individual would be able to focus their will and cause Something to happen. It allows more flexibility than the constraints of spells, but because of the lack of a focus such as a wand, can often be more exhausting and less precise. This wandless magic can also be harnessed to reach out and sense the general area around a person and can help them intuitively understand things about their surroundings that they would not have noticed otherwise - for example, in canon, Anakin Solo can fix anything mechanical, even if he doesn’t know what it does.

How will you be limiting this power?
As mentioned above, the wandless magic is more exhausting and less precise than using a wand for the same thing would be. It is also limited by being specifically attached to certain areas of expertise instead of its canonical depiction as a big, overreaching pool of god-mod abilities.

Do other characters know about this power?
Yup, it's common knowledge that Jacen's a Jedi, and that the Jedi Order exists.
