One Dead, Two Injured In Fountain Inn Crash

A Simpsonville man is dead after an accident in downtown Fountain Inn Sunday afternoon.

Deputy coroner Mike Ellis said Jeffrey Scott Conner, 20, was driving at a high rate of speed on North Main Street when he lost control and hit a car waiting to turn on Helems Street just before 4 p.m.

Connor was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt.

Two people in the other car were transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries.

Jeffrey Connor was my best friend in highschool. He was the greatest influence on my humor and my desire to play music. He was the only person who really understood me, on most occasions, and one of 3 people I felt comfortable with at that school. I don't think anyone will understand how much it hurts to realize that he's dead. I can look up at the pictures I have of him any time...but I'll never be able to see him again, outside of a cold marble gravestone. He was happiest with the simple things and had a rough, but bright future. It breaks me to know that he'll never see the end of it, and I know that at our highschool reunion, the only thing I'll be able to do is cry, because my best friend won't be there. I can only pray for you Jeff, and assure you that you'll forever be with me and Towers. We will never forget you!
