NEW YEAR'S FEAST OM NOM NOM.
Father unit and I were in the kitchen, either cooking, doing prep work for cooking, or cleaning up after cooking, more or less continually from 3 in the afternoon til midnight. Normally we do Dim Sum on Christmas Eve, but we decided to move it back this year because my grandparents would have wanted to come on Christmas Eve and the house isn't really ready for people. For one thing, we have no table. Anyway, it was great, totally awesome.
We started out with spring rolls, which as usual exploded in the fryer. Working theory is that rice paper wrappers should not be deep fried. We'll try again next year, I guess. Still tasty though. Then we sort of went our seperate but frequently intersecting ways until 7 or so, when there was fried chile squid (MY FAVORITE), rice, and chile beef wontons (ALSO MY FAVORITE). All of it was /amazing/. And then we watched Kung Fu! Man, in the last season that show really jumped the shark. At ten we made pot stickers, which were OMGSOGOOD. Then more Kung Fu! And right at midnight we had shrimpt toast, which are wonderful, and sparkly non-alcoholic orange beverage stuff, and watched the ball fall in Times Square. AWESOME NEW YEAR'S EVE WAS AWESOME.
