Mike = Boston

Mike is now going to start a lame, week-long conference in Boston. It doesn't make sense for me to go - not enough vacation (gotta save it for my 10 year reunion and Miranda's wedding), the days are long enough we actually wouldn't have time to do much, I have homework that needs to be done (always)...and we have two hooligan dogs.

Mike left and I took the opportunity to clean a portion of the basement. Just a tiny, tiny corner of our death-hole. I have ordered a small tool-organizer for our myriad of rakes, shovels, and brooms that are in a giant, leaning pile of death.

I have gathered gross bits (like insulation) that needs to go to the dump, and I have de-spider-webbed that tiny corner. We also have two bags of quick-crete that have opened and somewhat hardened (the air is pretty wet down there). I'm not really sure what to do with those, but they are too heavy for me to get them in the dump-trash-can. I rescued a kinked-hose and a small, foldable handtruck.

I may even try to organize the pile of scrap wood (anyone need 2X4s or 2X6s or 4X4 pieces, you talk to me!), but that is probably too hopeful. The spider armies know they can keep me at bay.

But those dreams will wait until my organizer comes in on Wednesday. Until then, I still need to walk the dogs (sad, because they are snoozing here beside me) and read a chapter of Operations Management.

At the Winslow place, we finally painted the front porch planks. We used Restore it! paint that has bad ratings (I fucked up, basically).

It was like painting with pudding. And we've hired out the painting of the huge back porch rails and stuff. We'll probably have to do the planks when I'm out of school in August. Suck.

For reference, here is what it looked like when we bought it (in the gross of winter), and then after we re-painted the rails of the porch (which were basically only chips of paint). Athough shockingly, you cannot tell from this picture. Score!

And yesterday, before ripping out a bush. All the plants on the right are going to go, too. We're hoping they can be mowed down, since they are not woody. Fingers crossed.
