Harry Potter lies awake in bed, thinking about how it all began. He dwells on train rides and Dark Lords. Connections that seem indefinable. One day, he will have the solution to whatever needs to be solved. For now, this feeling is enough.
There is always a wonderfully sweet touch when one falls in love. There is a happy burr of candy perfection. And there is everything Harry has come to associate with deep misty eyes and silky red hair. A love etched in sporadic - randomly beautiful - freckles that Harry had memorized.
For ages it seemed their love was impossible. No one would ever accept such a horrid thing, right? It was another flaw the Dursleys could write on his wall of shame. Oh, not only was he a wizard with no supposed appreciation for those who took him in, but he was gay.
Then there was Cho, and Ginny. And all these wisps of denial and pain. Because Harry never wanted them, and the person he did want watched him with sad eyes. Could he possibly feel the same?
The night Harry told Ron exactly how he felt, he had been lying in bed somewhat like he currently was. Ron had pulled the hangings back on his four poster and plopped on the extra space of mattress, stating he couldn’t sleep and demanding an unknown fact about Harry’s inner being.
Of course, this was not so easy, and - quite unexpectedly - Harry replied with an, “I’m in love with you Ron.”
Turns out, Ron felt exactly the same.
And this - Harry decided as he lay in bed with his arms around his lover - was a wonderful thing. And only… the beginning.
