Year in Review

Well, let's do a year-end post. I don't have much to talk about, because I didn't do much in '09. Really, it's just a crappy cap-off to the crappy back-half of a decade that had a really awesome first half. But I'm not here to talk about 2000-05. Or 06-08 ( Read more... )

I came to that same conclusion regarding the brawling, but not until halfway through (I think it was the part where you had the 3 electrified platforms). Button mashing will get you at least that far. But once I started paying attention to the fights, they got a heck of a lot more fun, and I wasn't just blowing through them to get to the next stealth sequence.

Man, I could not finish MGS3--it was the only one I didn't finish. The stealth was just way too loosey-goosey for me. I had at least one "why the fuck did he see me?!" moment in virtually every area, and it did not take much of that before I was just done with that game. Especially since I could not care less about the story, since it was clear from the beginning it was going to be far more like MGS2 than MGS.

I don't know that they actually changed much about the loose stealth for MGS4 (though they got rid of that ridiculous camo meter), and the story sure as hell wasn't any more compelling, but since they gave you a Snake that was controllable and you could fight your way out of most situations if necessary, all was forgiven.
