Doug makes 'pretty', entirely by accident!
A while back, a dim-witted guest threw a lit cigarette into a large planter/vase-like thing outside the lobby doors of the hotel. Wouldn't ya know, it caught on fire. A guest alerted me to the problem in a timely manner and I was able to grab a fire extinguisher before any serious damage was done. The stuff that spews from a dry-chem fire extinguisher is a very fine powder and is rather difficult to clean up... as a result, management decided to leave the planter as it was, coated with white powder(the guy at the Johnson City Fire Department said that the chemical didn't pose any danger to humans or animals that might pass by the site where the extinguisher was discharged). About two weeks after the fire, a guest commented on how, 'amazingly beautiful' the fake flowers in the planter looked. Management's response? "Hit the rest of the flower pots with the fire extinguisher since we have to have it refilled anyway". So... I made some flower pots look nice with the help of a handy safety device we call a fire extinguisher. Happy day.
